Hi, I got decision today around 1pm, notification by SMS message.
Visited Migri in Lahti: 8/3/23
Stage 2: 10/8/23
Decision: 20/9/23.
My background: I am student and work part time, have Finnish spouse. Have lived 8 years in Finland. Clear background and no criminal record. My country is not in the list!!
Hope people are waiting will get decision soon 🍀
Thanks very much for sharing! 1m 10d on stage 2 is not so bad. I'm now 2 weeks on stage 2, hope I don't need to wait longer than you did.

I guess they didn't ask you to provide anything for stage 2? Perhaps part of the wait was the background check. Hmm... My home country is known for being pretty quick with those at least.

The average Somali and Iraqi costs Finland €12,000 per person, per year.

So checking back what I posted before. I was bang on correct almost to the date, on 2 months. I voted that Juls likely gets his answer first (and he did > Approved). I have heard nothing from No_doo and RandomDude. So it looks mine is second into Stage 2. However, it might take longer to get actual approval because Migri asked me more information. This means if No_doo and RandomDude haven't got anything, they should be just around the corner from going to Stage 2.

P.S. RandomDude is next on list at this stage. I think it will be max 2 months before he moves to Stage 2.
Hi,
How your stage 2 is proceeding?
Also I'm wondering what is your calculation method?
Could you share?

I just did a bit of digging using the diary number and Kamu asnwers of the graphical representation of the progress (mainly) and queue number:
= applied in early Jul'2022, current queue number is 27XX
= checked 20 diary numbers around mine (to get the bare minimum to make the statistical calcs somehow meaningful)
= distribution is following
== 18 individual cases
== 4 / 22% are DONE: decisions are made
== 8 / 44% are Long-Waiting: showing progress of 20-25% with the queue numbers grouped into 42XX and 17XX/18XX
== 4 / 22% are a kind of "Normal" with the progress of ~70% with the queue numbers around 27XX
== 2 / 11% are a kind of "Normal Plus" with the progress of ~80-85% and queue number 21XX and 17XX
= my application is falling into the Normal category
= assuming that the same distribution ratio applies for the entire backlog then there is ~600 applications in the same category ahead of me
= progress in the category (averaged for 30 days) is 5-6 cases / working day
= that makes the distribution of 0-120 working days or 5-6 months
= adding Xmas delay that would make 5-7 months
= with 50% luck (i.e., in the middle of the range) I'd expect decision in ~3 months, i.e. before EOY - and stage 2 should start in ~2mon (=~Nov)
= with 0% luck (i.e., being at the end of the range) it would be 7 months, i.e. ~Apr'24 and stage 2 starting in ~Feb-Mar'24
= that is somehow corresponding with the expected waiting time of ~20 months as Migri currently shows

That calc somehow calmed me down as at least I got an idea how long I need to wait.
Don't really understand why Migri can't introduce something more meaningful than the rubbish queue number that means nothing...
Worth noting that before i moved to stage two. My queue number was dropping 150-200 per week comparing to my wife (30-40) and now the queue number slowed down to 30-40 per week while on stage two

Could you please provide some more information, such as when you applied and what your and your spouse's queue numbers are now?

For me, it's an average of 15-17 stages dropped per day in Stage 1.
My queue number is #64xx."

Hopefully, you will receive the decision in a few weeks!

You are already in the fast processing target zone (6 months), which is #4200-4600.

Please do post here once you receive the decision.

By the way, I have also applied at the Lahti Migri service point.

My wife has applied in September 2022 but i somehow feel like they moved her to stage two with me and that we’re waiting because her application takes more time than mine.
Anyhow ill keep you guys updated.

Well, my time has finally come folks. I knew it wasn't going to be long after I got to stage 2.

Today I got an SMS that my decision was ready and it was approved.
I am now a Finnish citizen and Suomi.fi already shows my status.

Applied: 10.01.2022
Verified identity 11.01.2022
Place in queue when I got to stage 2: 1,48x - 12/09/23
Sent requested documents: 13/09/2023
Last queue check: 1,41x - 23/09/23
Decision date: 25/09/23
Country: Not on the list
No criminal history whatsoever in any country.
Some student loans, but have been paying them off with no missed payments.
No kids. Non-Finnish spouse.

19.5 months at my calculation of waiting in stage 1 and 12 days waiting in stage 2.

I have lived in Finland over 15 years and not applied until I felt I earned it. That is, stable work history with high income, strong feeling of identity and professional proficiency in Finnish at the bare minimum. I don't have any other citizenships either. This is my second.

I want to say to everyone that I truly do wish you all the best at getting your approval.
A special thanks to those who gave me support, especially even if you don't agree with my political stances on topics. I learned a lot reading different people's stances on things and it helped me to understand those who were in the same position as me.

I won't be coming back to this forum now for any reason. Though I am appreciative of the conversations, also from those who fiercely disagreed with me. This is a humbling experience and finally I can close this chapter on my life. Going forward I do hope that the govt. continues a more conservative approach with immigration and I fully support the 8 year minimum (My time was almost double that length anyway). The idea that someone could integrate here, learn Finnish and fully understand how this country works and what it needs and have the same rights as citizens with a long and rich history or bloodline here - and in only 4 years, is completely ludicrous.

I look forward to continuing to contribute to this great nation.

P.S. Mamu, I really do hope that you get it someday when you have more patience and maturity, have paid off your fines and are living more honestly here and when you can understand that it is a privilege not some right afforded to you. Especially not one you deserve after having stolen government handouts.

Hell has frozen over and pigs are flying. So you finally got it! Sincere congratulations!

I've been waiting for a decision for almost 17 months. A few days ago I wrote them a letter and asked about the prospects  They answered that the estimated waiting period is now twenty months and recommended to calmly wait another four months.

My friend from a non-EU country applied for citizenship last November and got a positive decision in March this year. It only took her 4 months. I identified myself in the end of May and have waited for a bit over 4 months now. It worries me to read about how some of you have waited for even 2 years or more. I hope i can get my decision soon.

Same for me: 15+ months with 26XX queue number.
My gut feeling is that ~18 months is what we should be expecting just to start the phase 2.
