Four months is exceptionally fast, probably an EU record.march9320 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 9:59 pmMy friend from a non-EU country applied for citizenship last November and got a positive decision in March this year. It only took her 4 months. I identified myself in the end of May and have waited for a bit over 4 months now. It worries me to read about how some of you have waited for even 2 years or more. I hope i can get my decision soon.

My gut feeling is that ~18 months is what we should be expecting just to start the phase 2.
Let’s hope so

Hopefully they don't increase the processing time window! Now it is 20 months...

It is now 6 - 28 months https://migri.fi/en/citizenship-for-adults

Re: Citizenship Application 2023
Feels kinda sad that they have to prolong the processing, even though they have one year processing target, which wasn’t met in 2022, so I’m not sure how they are going to meet it in 2023 (at least, by the end of this year trying to process everything that is over one year pending).dude238818 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 3:20 pmIt is now 6 - 28 months https://migri.fi/en/citizenship-for-adults![]()
They will keep increasing this year for the simple reason many people have been applying because of the so-called 8 years. This might lead to making processing to 3 years or more soon

Re: Citizenship Application 2023
Should your residence permit be nearing its expiration date and you still haven't had a decision on your citizenship application, I would recommend applying for an extended residence permit. I did exactly that, and the extended residence permit application was processed in less than an hour (no in-person visit required). I applied for citizenship over 13 months ago and am still waiting in stage 1. Not worried, though, as my RP is valid until 2027, and migri should have made a decision on my citizenship application by then.march9320 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 11:30 pmMy queue number is 51XX. Shouldnt you have applied for a PR permit in this case?Auringon_kukka wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 11:32 amShould your residence permit be nearing its expiration date and you still haven't had a decision on your citizenship application, I would recommend applying for an extended residence permit. Re: Citizenship Application 2023
A permanent residence permit would have been an option of course. However, I heard those applications take longer to process, and I thought perhaps that might make it more difficult for return trips to Finland, without an actual valid residence permit card in hand.march9320 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 3:11 pmShouldnt you have applied for a PR permit in this case?Auringon_kukka wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 11:32 amShould your residence permit be nearing its expiration date and you still haven't had a decision on your citizenship application, I would recommend applying for an extended residence permit. I'm confident my application for citizenship will be approved, eventually.

Re: Citizenship Application 2023
This is new, I believe. When I applied in August 2022, I still had to visit the local service point. The new process makes sense, especially since you are already proving your identity online by logging in with your banking credentials (in most cases). Migri will of course notify applicants (once processing begins) if anything is missing or if information needs to be updated.Toololainen wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 1:02 pmHello everyone,
Has anyone experienced this when applying for the citizenship that you no longer need to visit Migri?
