Re: Citizenship Application 2023
Hmm I was in Finland when my application moved to stage 2, but I had a quick trip planned a few days after moving to stage 2 and informed Migri before going about the dates. But by the time I informed them, my application had already been waiting in stage 2 for a few days, and since I came back it's been still no progress. So not sure if it has anything to do with my trip abroad or not.karhu86 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 3:42 pmit has been almost 7 month for mepurplemoon wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 3:03 pmHas anyone been in stage 2 for 4+ weeks, without any additional information requests?

Re: Citizenship Application 2023
I am seeking an opinion regarding my case. A bit long message, so I appreciate your patience!
I have lived for a decade (with no interruptions) in Finland. I became jobless earlier this year in Finland and, despite my efforts, could not find a job there. Then, I found a job in the UK and moved here four months ago, but I kept an address in Finland. My job can be done remotely such that I can spend a few months in the UK and then the rest can work from Finland. It is not mentioned in the contract, though. Officially, I have not moved out of Finland. I will return to Finland as soon as I get a job there. I was getting Union benefits until two months ago. Last week, Migri opened my citizenship application and asked me to provide visit details, income details and address justification.
Visits:
I have lived 54 days out of Finland earlier this year. My last exit from Finland was on Oct 10th, and since then, I have been outside Finland. Migri also asked for passport pages with entry/exit stamps. One of the entry/exit stamps is on the UK work visa. I do not see any issue regarding duration as I have a long enough time in Finland. However,
Can having a UK work visa create issues for me? If yes, what is the best way to deal with this situation?
Address:
I had my address until last month. However, then I gave the address of a friend as a stop gap arrangement. The address was mentioned as a permanent move instead of temporary move. Migri has asked for documentary evidence for the address.
I plan to inform them clearly that I gave the address as a stop-gap measure due to relocation and have planned to give the new address as soon as I find another place in Finland. I will provide a tenancy agreement for a different place starting in December or January as proof of address. I can also come back to Finland to end my away time.
Income:
There were two months when I took benefits and got a salary, too. The main reason was that I could not manage relocation without the benefits as my salary came after a month from the employer in the UK. Salary went to UK bank.
I plan to disclose my job details, and I don't want to hide anything. I have informed the union about the job and will most definitely be asked to return the two months' benefits.
Question:
Is there anything that could create trouble related to the citizenship decision? How do you see the situation?
Note: I know I should not have moved out until the decision. But that is in the past.

You sound like you have the right idea. Be honest and don’t hide anything going forward. Migri can find out everything with a little investigation. You don’t want to risk losing your citizenship because you withhold information (this is written in the law). Temporary absence from Finland is permitted without interrupting your residence period. I wish you well and hope you get a positive decision.U123ser wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 1:59 pmI am seeking an opinion regarding my case. A bit long message, so I appreciate your patience!

From the questions they are asking it seems they have some suspicion already. Honesty is best from here. You don’t know what they already know and it would be really bad if your answers don’t match their info.

It appears they already have suspicions. Don't withhold even minor information. Communicate your intentions through an open letter.
Please be aware that if they have suspicions, it will likely take several months, or possibly a year, for them to reach a decision on your application. They will provide you with more time and assess your response in the future, possibly through another supplemental round.

You are literally asking for advice on lying. If you lie to them, you don't just lose the chance of citizenship but the right to apply for it again. Not only that but the right to live in Finland and likely anywhere else in Nordics at the very least. Think about how effing stupid this question is.U123ser wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 1:59 pmI am seeking an opinion regarding my case. A bit long message, so I appreciate your patience!

You are working and paying tax in another EU country and trying to hide that from Finland which is also an EU country that shares all tax records and has the strictest rules on money flow, tax evasion and money laundering. You left Finland to live and work and not for a holiday, which means your 4 year non-stop requirement is invalid now. You simply don't qualify anymore.
You don't live in Finland anymore. You don't give the address of a friend and make them complicit to your crimes. You give them YOUR address where you physically live. How stupid is this question seriously? Think of all the people in this country who have been playing by all the rules for decades and waiting patiently and then you come in here and ask how you can lie to the authorities and only tell the truth when it suits you. What the hell? However, then I gave the address of a friend as a stop gap arrangement.
You plan to, but you haven't. What kind of child-like bullshít comment is this?I plan to disclose my job details, and I don't want to hide anything.
If you think that Migri, Verotoimisto, SUPO, Poliisi etc. are stupid, boy you are in for a surprise. Disclose everything immediately otherwise you are screwed and you are going to end up like another user Mamu on their hit list and then with your application denied. These guys don't @#$% around and if you are inconsistent or lie to them even once or try to "sidestep" the requirements they will deny you purely out of safety concern.
Be honest, now and always. You have a legal duty to do so and a moral and ethical one to every single other person who is following the rules here. You've taken benefits that you'll have to pay back and have intentionally misled authorities here so you can try and bankroll your efforts somewhere else. If you think you have a chance at anything after this, then boy you deserve your own sitcom.
I can tell you are screwed already. You are not the first person who has moved overseas just before their application starting and has tried to pull the wool over Migri's eyes. They're already completely aware that you are overseas and are calling your bluff. I'd say you are already on their !"#¤% list immediately. It's like you think they don't have immediate access to entry/exit border information and EU-wide tax and work details. You really think they'll let someone become a citizen without scrutinizing every single thing about them that they can? It's 2023 and everything is digital, wake up dumbass.Migri has asked for documentary evidence for the address.
From where I stand you fell right into their trap. The only way out is you immediately come clean about everything and tell them where you are living and what you are doing. It's either that or you end up with black mark on your profile for life and good luck trying to get that off. Nowhere in Nordics will entertain you after that.
The average Somali and Iraqi costs Finland €12,000 per person, per year.

Ahh, I feel so sorry for you! You definitely need some help, see a doctor man! You are not required to "!"#¤%" if someone has asked for an opinion. Most of what you said clearly shows that you have neither read the Citizenship Act nor have familiarity with the "moving out temporarily" rules.
Learn to give constructive feedback, if not Stfu!

I cannot really give any advice except being very honest but I believe it is a good idea to return to Finland ASAP. I wanted to share that in my case I had Erasmus internship as a part of my masters in Finland. It lasted only 4 month, the credits were included in my studies, I was getting paid from both firm in the UK (host) and my Finnish university. I was offered job but refused and returned to Finland after 4 month. Migri asked a lot of questions when I applied for my citizenship (I had temporal work visa in the UK for 4 month) and currently I am waiting over 20 month for my application to be processed. The exchange is the only thing that makes my case special and in retrospective I would not have done it. So I would imagine (purely based on my experience) in your case they might be rather careful and possibly slow. Good luck!U123ser wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 1:59 pmI am seeking an opinion regarding my case. A bit long message, so I appreciate your patience!

I have also been outside of Finland for an internship which lasted for about 4 months, but nobody asked anything about it while I was visiting the service point. However, like you, I have been waiting for 15 months already, soon it’s my 16th monthukkonen2024 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 7:09 amI cannot really give any advice except being very honest but I believe it is a good idea to return to Finland ASAP. Hi,
I am wondering if anyone who submitted their citizenship application after June 19th, 2023 got a decision from Migri. It seems that many people who applied in spring this year got their decisions quite fast. Thank you for your insights on this!
