It's something like 30-40% chance that you will get it by the end of summer, but with the current citizenship application chaos, might be even much lower. Expect 21 months, and have a plan just in case (renew PR etc).
May I ask what is the current citizenship application chaos is about?
More complicated laws
It was published yesterday on YLE that in 2022 there were around 13000 citizenship applications, and in 2023 already 18000 applications. The reason for previous years is corona - somehow it accelerated applications (maybe people had enough time to study Finnish at home), in 2023 it is because of coming law changes in 2024-2026:
8 years to get citezenship, new YKi and Civic tests, dual citezenship abolishment and other smaller changes: income requirement, security assesment etc.

But people who are applying now are not subjected to these laws, right?

It's so weird I got on stage 2 since November and still no decision.

(..
Applied in July 2023
Current queue number 44xx
Interesting how it works. What is exact day you applied? I applied 4th of July 2023, still stage 1 and queue 47xx
I applied 19th of June 2023, still stage 1 and queue 4501. Two of my friends who applied on July 2023 got their decisions on November. I sent mail to migri and they told me I have to wait for 29 months. Honestly, 29 months is a long time.

Yes, I applied on the same day and just seen that they updated the processing time to 29 months. 2.5 years of wait.. Completely insane for someone who works here, brought their workplace in Finland on purpose, pays taxes and cannot perform their job properly while waiting (the need for extensive international travel along with other aspects). Meanwhile, some of those who don't work, get it in 5-6 months..

When I put my information here (
https://migri.fi/sv/behandlingstider), it shows the processing time between 6 to 21 months, but here (
https://migri.fi/sv/medborgarskap-for-vuxna), you can see they wrote 29 months. Also, when Migri replied to my mail they said the processing time is 29 months. So, maybe they need to update their system or something.

29 months is for those who came without permit on tourist visa. When you asked migri did you provide them your dairy number? And did you come with a permit? I asked them 2 werks ago for my case and they said 21 months. During that time these 29 months eere also on their website. Maybe they just told you max possible time if you did not give them dairy number

Yes, I told them my diary number. I came to Finland 8 years ago with residence permit based on study. I sent mail to Migri January 16th.

So you can clarify it with them. Just tell them that processing time checker tells you 21 mobths, why they say 29?

Has anyone who applied in January 2023 received a request for additional information recently? I recently got an email asking for travel information, but my progress didn't change, still stayed in step 1

The calculator was earlier giving me 21 months and now it shows 29 when I put my application date.. I pretty much suspect they are extending the processing period. I chose 'came in Finland with the permit' to check the time even though technically I came without since I am working as a specialist. For this type you are allowed to come to Finland on tourist visa and start working while applying. Never understood this criterion in the calculator, I don't think it's correct as it does seem like it would refer to refugees and people without a valid visa or passport.
