Hi all!
I submitted my application this week so joining club 2024

Still in a state of anxiously checking my application with little hope even though I know it's gonna take many months (but I noticed that dairy number was assigned to my application already)
Thus, noticed that today with the processing time checker it shows me not just a 6-27 months time frame, but straight "The processing of your application will take 30 month(s)" although 2 days ago it was showing the time frame
Anyway good luck to us all, really hope Kamu checker is back soon and that Migri finally hires more people

Citizenship application
The new estimated processing time is 8–23 months. The former estimate was 6–20 months. Read our customer bulletin on backlogs in citizenship applications.

Did you come firstly on tourist visa or you had permit already? Why you are waiting 27 moths? This exceeds migri estimates and they legaly obliged to give you new estimate and provide reason for that

So does it actually matter for citizenship application processing if you came with a tourist visa and applied for the permit in Finland? I've heard conflicting statements about this, e.g. some claim that the wording in the processing time calculator implies refugees by people who first came without a permit rather than, say, specialists who applied after arrival.

I think it does matter because I got a reply I have to wait 30 months. Which completely makes no sense, why should I wait longer if I came here to work with a valid passport according to all rules of a specialist permit? And during covid the consulates were even closed and not accepting applications locally..

Has Migri replied to you or you checked the calculator on Migri's site?
They replied to me. Even though to be very precise, they of course didn't specify whether it was because of me coming without permit or anything else.

I think the 30 months thing is just in the template email they send if you email them asking why it's taking so long.
At least I got the same email and I came here as an EU citizen, and transferred that to permanent residence after Brexit.

Interesting. I guess you don't have any criminal history (high speeding included etc) or suspicion. May I ask which country are you from?
I most certainly don't and my country is not on the list that previously existed.
