Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
Hi everyone,
As you all know, the law is changing. The new law states that asylum seekers' applications will be processed within a year.
However, the law applies only to applications submitted after October 1st. My question is: if I applied before this date, will they prioritize the applications submitted after October 1st, and my application take longer to process? or will they make it faster with older applications as well? (I have refugee status.)
Thanks!

I don’t think so, because the law doesn’t have retroactivity in this case, so everything that has happened before 1.10.2024, would stay within the old law limits

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
Hi,
Has anyone applied for citizenship one month before meeting 4 year residency period? Will be any problems then? I will fulfill 4 year residency requirement in September 16th but want to submit and visit migri office the application in August (reserved migri appointment a couple of weeks ago). I have passed YKI test.

You can apply one month before. It won't be a problem.rhm1994 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 11:51 amHi,

Has anyone heard if some of December 2023 applicants have already got decisions?

It will mean that automated decision can't be made.farhad.void wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 4:25 pmYou can apply one month before. It won't be a problem.rhm1994 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 11:51 amHi,

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
Is the 4-year period residency requirement + YKI certificate counted as "exemption from 5-year period"? If so, the automated decision is not applicable for applicants who have fulfilled 4 years.betelgeuse wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 11:11 amIt will mean that automated decision can't be made.farhad.void wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 4:25 pmYou can apply one month before. Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
mid-July 2023, still waiting.
Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
mid-April 2023 here, awaiting handling.
Should be a pretty straight forward case also since I already have permanent residence before applying. So I think all they need to check is my language certificate

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
Is there anyone who passed the Swedish language exam waiting or has received a decision? Everything I’ve provided has been in Swedish and I am wondering if I should upload English translations of everything because maybe there are more case workers who handle applications in English than there are case workers who handle application in Swedish.

Before summer looked like they were going through these months quicker, may be this is due to summer break, lets hope that this improves in Augusthello andy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 2:25 pmapplied in the beginning of Dec 2023, nothing....seems migri doesn't proceed dec yetwhoisjohngalt wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 5:00 pmHas anyone heard if some of December 2023 applicants have already got decisions?
