Hi,
I kindly request you to help me with my case wherein I (Finnish citizen) would like to invite my mother from a non EU country to Finland after her husband's passing. What will be the appropriate residence permit type and expected duration for having it processed and what is the success rate of similar cases like mine, if you have similar experience?
For some context, my mother has never visited Finland before but another EU country as a tourist. This case will be based on emotional and mental dependence since she will have no one else to live with in her home country.
Thanks a lot in advance

Residence permits don't have a category for this. Have you lived in another EU country (used your right of free movement)? EU family registration has a category for dependent parents.Blueandwhite wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 10:02 amI kindly request you to help me with my case wherein I (Finnish citizen) would like to invite my mother from a non EU country to Finland after her husband's passing. "evidence of being dependent on someone. This could be, for instance, a document regarding your health, your need of assistance and the financial support you are getting from your family member. You can also submit evidence of having lived together with your family member in your country of departure. "

Migri has a residence permit for other family members, but your mother feeling lonely is not sufficient:Blueandwhite wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 10:02 amI kindly request you to help me with my case wherein I (Finnish citizen) would like to invite my mother from a non EU country to Finland after her husband's passing. Financial dependence alone is not enough. The elderly parents, adult children and unmarried siblings of a person who lives in Finland are usually considered to be dependent on their family member. Residence permits are not usually granted on the grounds of poor health and need for care if the applicant has the opportunity to get treatment for his/her illnesses in his/her home country.
