Applying for Citizenship 2024

Just passing some information, someone from FB group got decision today and they applied on Dec 15th 2023. Seems they're starting to process mid December 2023 this week

Thanks for update. I visited Migri office on Dec 29. as there was Christmas holiday in between. with this estimate, I am hoping to get decision next week. I will keep you posted .

Why are you getting mad? It’s possible that people who has a work/student resident permit can apply later to asylum.And usually refugee’s applications take longer thats why i just asked ))

I myself asked Migri why it is taking so long, even more than 23months, but they just give the generic reply.

I’m really sorry you’ve been in this uncertainty quagmire for such an enormously long time. And they approved your application for permanent residency and are now telling you, a permanent resident, that they expect your application for citizenship will take 7 months more than their current longest estimated processing time of 23 months. Moreover, that longest estimated processing time had to have gone up at least 7 months since you actually applied, because I know that in February 2023 the estimated processing time according to MIGRI’s Processing Time Checker was 7-16 months.

Thank you. Yes, the maximum time keeps going up since I applied, it was 14 months back then.
I dunno why they placed it in the longest queue. And the funny thing that I got my permanent residence permit in 1 day. So I went for the verification at Migri, then the following day they granted it. So it is very random.

Applicant employed + co-applicant.

I moved to stage 2 this week, but nothing has been changed much. Visited their office 12th December.

Any update yet? mine went to stage 2 on 3 sep, no idea why it takes so long time…

The date when you visit Migri matters, not when you apply, and in case you dont have to visit due to strong authentication what matters is the date when you get diary number.

I am thinking about the citizenship related complaints handled by the Oikeuskansleri. The last few (e.g.) indicate that migri is to share more information about the processing of the applications by 20.9.
