Mine is 31 months. I do not know why. Came to finland 2019 with A permit wrote yki and passed, submitted application with yki first then later added my ammatti tutkinto. Have a permanent contract but still have to wait for 31 months. Tired of waiting already. Applied on 27th October 2023 and got dairy number same day.
Did migri tell you by email that it will take 31 months? It is jusr general answer
I also got the 31 months estimate by phone and I also applied in the end of October 2023 (don't remember the exact day). I begged the migri worker who answered my call to tell me why my case would take this long but they would not say. I am not a refugee, I never commited any crime, I never asked for KELA support, I am not from the countries whose citizens face strong stigma against them nor from countries whose passports do not fall within EU standards. Based on my "research" in internet forums, people who fall in the long list and do not match the aforementioned things, they may have 1) traveled too much (what's too much? I don't know) 2) be an EU citizen or family member of an EU citizen (why? I don't know) 3) arrived in Finland on a tourist visa and here obtained to a residence permit (sometimes it may be a problem, sometimes not). Please do not take what I say as the absolute truth, I am just like you all trying to survive this process that's very heavy on the mind.

I have case like yours but have been told to wait 23 months, now 25. Did you come to Finland without residence permit in advance?

What does this website tells in months

I am posting this update on behalf of someone who doesn’t have account here.

They are a couple who applied together. One of them got the positive decision, but the other one is still waiting.

Application submitted at 20/03/2024
Diary number is received after visiting migri at 27/03/2024
Decision is made at 11/11/2024
Diary number range is 27xx/310/2024

Application did not go to progress state at all, instead decision was ready immediately.

Is there anyone here with diary number range of 29xx/310/2024 who is still waiting for processing of their citizenship application ?

I recieved diary number beginning of April and noticed many applicants with diary number 30xx/310/2024 have already recieved decision.

Hey guys, I have a question that I don’t know if this is strange or not.
My application went to stage 2 in processing last Thursday, but when I look at the log of my application on enterfinland it says that my application went to “in processing” the same day as I got my diary number, even though I have the email from 24.10. saying it processing started and when I checked it before that it said waiting for processing 🤔.

So my log is like
15.1.2024 - submit application
18.1.2024 - diary number generated
18.1.2024 - started processing (this is wrong?)
19.7.2024 - sent additional pay/travel info
20.8.2024 - sent more travel updates

I think I will give them some more time before contacting migri, but I think this is strange and was wondering if this is normal for the “Hakemuksesi tapahtumat” to show like this?
Hi, I experienced the same situation this morning but I didn’t receive an email notifying me that my application had moved to Stage 2 (‘In Progress’). Instead, I logged in and saw that, for the first time in 7 months, the status had changed to ‘In Progress.’ Interestingly, a new entry appeared in the Events log stating that my application had ‘started,’ but the timestamp was from the day my diary number was first generated, not yesterday.

I’ve tried to compare this to your experience, but I’m puzzled about why I didn’t receive an email. I’m concerned this might just be a glitch, giving me false hope of fast processing for now. :)

Hi! For those who have received a positive decision, could you share what the event log says when your application moves to processing (Stage 2)? Does it show 'Hakemuksesi käsittely on alkanut' or 'Hakemuksen käsittely on kesken,' or both?

I noticed that on the Automated Messages section of the Migri website, these two phrases are listed separately in their guidance. While the literal meanings of the two sentences are obviously different, I’m curious if they indicate different application statuses in EnterFinland and what they mean in practice. Thank you in advance! :)

Let me know!

I asked them by email yesterday what was their estimation for my case and they replied today that it would be 9 months. I’ll post here when i get the decision. It is very hard to understand their logic…

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my key dates in case it’s helpful to anyone:

Diary number created: 06/02/2024
Processing started: 04/11/2024
Decision made: 12/11/2024
I visited the location in person, and they didn’t ask for any additional updates.

Could you please guide me on what to do next? Should I inform the bank, KELA, or any other relevant organization that I'm now a Finnish citizen? Is the only thing left to book an appointment with the police for my passport?

Thanks so much for your help!

Congrats 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

No need to inform anyone. Your citizenship will have been updated in the Population Information System (you can check at Suomi.fi) shortly after the decision was made. So, schedule your passport appointment. By the way, I chose the regular service option and had my passport two days later. I also recommend getting your new (i.e., valid for travel) Finnish identity card at the same time (you save a few euros by applying for both documents at the same time). That way, both documents will always be up for renewal at the same time in the future (convenient and cheaper (Poliisi and photographer)).

Non Finnish entities (like foreign banks) will not use the Finnish population register. Basically you need to go through any entity that needs to do know your customer (KYC) on you.

Congratulations! :) I have a few questions, if you don’t mind. Were you outside the EU when your application moved to the In-Progress phase? Do you think Migri knew you were abroad and that’s why they held the decision until you returned?

Also, what did the event log say in your case when it first moved to In-Progress? My situation now is that I informed Migri about an upcoming trip next week by uploading a supplement document to my application. Then, on Thursday morning, my application moved to In-Progress, but I didn’t receive any email notification.

In the event log, it just says, 'The processing of your application has started (Hakemuksesi käsittely on alkanut),' but the date listed is the same as when my diary number was created. However, it seems like there might be another event/status in the In-Progress stage where it would say, 'Your application is being processed (Hakemuksen käsittely on kesken).' Does this match your experience?
