Applying for Citizenship 2024

Post by Tgc » Sun Dec 01, 2024 8:24 pm

Hi, I sent an email and this is the response they gave me🙋‍♀️. ---- Your application is awaiting processing and the estimated processing time is 9 months from the moment you have activated your application: Citizenship application for an adult | Finnish Immigration Service. We will inform you when processing begins or if we need additional information from you to support your application. ----- I hope they will make a decision soon. My residence permit ends on February 24th and I haven't applied for an extension yet. I am thinking of waiting until the first week of February because it will be exactly 9 months on January 8th. Diaarinumero: 30**/310/2024. I visited Migri on April 8th. I applied with my 12-year-old child. I moved in 2020. I went to language school and never worked. I receive unemployment benefits from Kela. My husband and other daughter are already Finnish citizens. Is there anyone who applied after April 8th and received a decision? Did anyone get an email saying 9 months directly? Or did they give an open-ended period like 9 -18 , 9-24 months or 9-31 months?

Hi there, nah I’m still waiting too, nothing new yet. By the way do you still get the “waiting for processing” emails every 4 weeks? They stopped sending me those after 9 months or so (beginning of October). I think someone said they stopped sending it to everyone.

Mine went to in progress and its been 4 weeks that i am stuck in 'in progress'. my diary number started with 7** and i applied in january 2024, still waiting for my decision
That’s great at least it’s in progress now! I applied in January too, diary number is 6**, but I guess the fact that I don’t have a job and my country is on that list the algorithm is treating me accordingly, even though neither of those were officially mentioned anywhere by migri when I applied. I’m not stressing about it though, it’s only a matter of time and my priority at the moment is to get a job. I hope you get a positive decision soon!
i think they finally put me in a long queue :) i am not anymore excited. dont know whats wrong with my application

Hi, I hope you'll soon receive your positive decision. I have the same problem as I applied in November last year. What's the email address you contacted? And did you communicate in Finnish or English?

I called to Migri recently, and they told me that there is always a reson why it goes above estimates. I think you know the reason or can guess it. I might guess you are either refugee or from the country like Pakistan (many from this country reported delays for citezenship). You can correct me if I'm wrong, but we want to hear from you. Because, otherwise, it creates an impression that any appication can be delayed that long.

About 30 plus months estimates migri provides to some people. I'm waiting like 17 months already. I applied in July 2023, recently called migri, and they told me I should expect decision in August, i.e. after 25 months.

Is it happened with someone that I asked migri for estimation on my application and they said 29 months and one of my friend asked to ask again and now they said 9 months, so should I expect in 9 months or not, also during one travel update on call i asked again like twice after second time they again said 9 months from submission, so i am worried i need to wait for 9 months or 25. My application is in queue from 6 months. Thank you
