Hi everyone,
I’m an EU citizen and have previously studied and worked in Finland before returning to my home country. Last year, I came back to Finland for a 9-month training program at an institute. During that time, Migri registered my right of residence based on studies.
After completing the training, I registered as unemployed and I’m currently doing a work try-out at a company, approved by the TE Office.
My non-EU wife recently came to visit me in Finland, and I would like to ask:
Can she apply for a residence card as a family member of an EU citizen here in Finland, considering my current status?
I would really appreciate any guidance or experience on this.
Thank you!

It’s possible with sufficient funds as the registration basis:nordicExplorer wrote: ↑Wed Jul 16, 2025 8:29 pmHi everyone,

”Sufficient financial resources may also be your grounds for residing in Finland. This is possible if you have sufficient funds for yourself and your family members, meaning that you will not need to rely on social assistance, for example. Under law, an EU citizen must not cause an unreasonable burden to the Finnish social security system.”
