hello i have a child athlete who wanted to reside in finland to train in their sport please. We had found a coach and already been there for 3 momths. We applied for residency permit on ‘ other grounds’ - i (mum) was going to accompany her for the rest of this year- i would not have been working in the country but had the funds to stsy a few months- hoping she would reside with a family next year. Unfortunately we were declined as she is not an earning athlete- can anyone offer some advice please? my daughter is 16 years old and desperately wants to train with a coach there full time.

Since she's a minor and already has a coach and training setup, you could explore options like a student residence permit for sports training or residency for study purposes, if the training center qualifies.
