Migri Expedited Processing

Post by canocano » Thu Jul 03, 2025 1:53 pm

Hello,

I have applied for a residence permit on other grounds—intimate relationship 13 months ago. My boyfriend is having a medical crisis that requires my presence to take care of him. Has anyone tried expedited processing application with Migri? On https://migri.fi/en/expedited-processing1, they provide common grounds when they will NOT expedite applications but no grounds are given for a valid expedite request that will be approved.

Thank you so much in advance for your response.

I requested expedited processing on my citizenship application a while ago with a lot less urgent reason than yours and it was not granted. I have know way of knowing for sure if it had any effects but I got the approval at the exact minimum estimated time that the MGRI website said so I am guessing it did help. In your case, if it is an urgent medical issue, then they might make an exception and speed it up. There is no harm in trying I think.

Do you know if the decision to deny a request to expedite is appealable? For example to the administrative court?

The decision should state if you can appeal, and if yes where.

It doesn't say anything about appealing. Do you think I can apply to the administrative court for leave to take an extraordinary appeal?

The administrative court is not known for fast decisions, and in any case:
