Citizenship Application 2022
Re: Citizenship Application 2022
Finally received a decision this morning! Thanks for the dicussion here, it really helped understand a lot of things and stress a little less.
Took 5 months (stage 1) and 1 week (stage 2) totally. Queue number around 47xx when it went to stage 2 but also when the decision came. Started from ~75xx. Background was non-EU country (not in the list though), employed the whole time ~9 years.
All the best to everyone going through this process!

Looking like the remaining of 2021 applicants would be scheduled for 2023 for processingEdward35 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 12:27 pmCongratulations mate!! While the citizenship process is without doubt, slow, the follow on process of getting a passport is extremely quick.
I received my citizenship decision on 16/11/2022, applied for passport the same day, went to the police for fingerprints and sample signature on 17/11/2022, and received the passport in the post on 21/11/2022. That's ONE working day processing time.

Did you visit a police station in Helsinki or in some other place?nicnet wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 12:56 pmWhile the citizenship process is without doubt, slow, the follow on process of getting a passport is extremely quick.

Re: Citizenship Application 2022
I guess people who don't get citizenship in 7-8 months will have to wait for the whole period which is 24-26 months. Hopefully all 2021 applicants will get decision until the end of 2023.

Does migri have difficulties with some applicants? End of 2023 ?? Re: Citizenship Application 2022
Unfortunately they do have difficulty with some applicants. We all know that infamous list. The average processing time for people from that list of countries is 2 years, regardless of your record in Finland. They have stated that it’s due to unreliability of those countries giving reasons such as corruption or the inability of those countries to keep proper records. Those reason are quite suspicious because since when did migri realize that about those countries as in the past citizens of those countries would get their decisions within the same time frame as others. So some might ask what changed ? I don’t know but people have different theories. For people coming from countries that are not on that list, I cannot understand why anybody would be kept waiting for longer than a year if they have a clean slate. My guess is that for people within this latter category waiting for longer periods, the individual in charge is probably slower at work or maybe extra meticulous (as you know in Finland, the fate of your business usually depends on the person handling your case)Edward35 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 3:15 pmDoes migri have difficulties with some applicants? Re: Citizenship Application 2022
Hello everybody,
I would like to share some positive news from my side. My application moved to stage 2 three weeks ago and remained there until this afternoon. Today in the afternoon I was asked some extra information, I replied within 2 hours and an hour later after sending supplementary information I received positive decision. It was really frustrating to wait in stage 2, checking my information every day. I initially thought that my application stuck due to my child's residence permit extension, but we both got citizenship already.
I wish the same everyone in this thread especially those who have been waiting for quite a long time

My queue number was 47xx when my application went to stage 2. After it moved a bit slow and today it was 454x.

I see it as pure discrimination. Taking more than year to investigate someone because he/she comes developing countries totally unacceptable.pizzapasta wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 3:57 pmUnfortunately they do have difficulty with some applicants. A systematically it’s a test of patience and very understanding,Maybe if the applicant commits a crime while waiting for an decision , it will be useful to buy he or she to plane ticket.( and yes it’s discrimination for those who are waiting over 2 years .)Edward35 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 8:40 pmI see it as pure discrimination.
