Okie...folx...spring chickens or cowboyz...Good..to
Where is my time when I needed to post to some people thinking that I am telling them something..when I was just in fact referring to us living in Finland...
and then another one trying to say politeness is everywhere/depends on the person/place/thing as usual repeating what others and I have been saying and trying to post it as though they have discovered nirvana..
some days some men are bad..other days they are exemplary..so what.. Not everyone is the goody goody type and others are soo bad..its just that people are built differently!!

Ah, all is now clear, we possibly have some "evidence" on this whole argument about whether Finns have manners or not!

And for the record, I really don't give two hoots whether manners are present in this country or not. I am in one of my Romes, so I do my best to fit in.

Anyway, back to the point, triggered by cowboy's statement:

Yes it is true that many Finnish women take a foreign man (I've met upwards of 20). One comment that rings in my ears is one criticising Finnish men for not having manners. Now I've never met a girl from another country who had a foreign man, who suggested that her native countries' menfolk lacked manners, but have heard this in Finland mopre than once. But it could just be a coincidence. Where are all the Finnish women who could comment on this? Probably hard at work whilst their imported stallions spend all day drinking cider and fiddling on Finland Forum?

Or it could be the reason which finnish men have told every wishful guy coming after the love of their life...

Freely quoting, more or less and less being closer to truth, Hank in his infamous commentaries.

Finnish women have for ages fought to obtain equality. Recently they have practically achieved it. Finnish man has been brought to see women equal creatures. Thus they can open the bloody door just as well as any man can.

Now women, after achieving their goal of equality, find themselves unhappy. They did not want to be equally equal! They wanted to be equal while pampered! Thus they run to foreign guys who have not learned principles of equality. Woman is thrilled to have man who pampers her, man is thrilled to have attention of a woman who is, for a while, obedient and loving.

Then woman changes her mind again... Being pampered, and bossed, is no longer good. Now things must change again!

This, my good fellow people, is reason why finnish woman sees finnish man as rude. He treats her equally.

Umm last time on the board..Sunday at 09.30..
:?
I checked via his profile...but... it took so loooong to load his 25000 posts avearge 13 posts a day since 2002.
I know he had bought a new lap top (his christmas present to himself) He was installing the operating system "NOT WIDOWS" he said....perhaps he has done something wrong in setting it up.

Perhaps has locked himself out of :
a) His PC.
b) His appartment. (not for the first time).

My best guess..At 0932 on Sunday he decided to take his new lap top and his

to his mökki..he gave up playing with his new toy at five past the third glass...and he is now sleeping.

Um, no matter what anyone says, xx ≠ xy. The sooner everyone gets that the better. I don't think it's about being treated equally, we are not equal, we are meant to complement each others strengths. There should be a balance, and there are things that many women are successful in, and there are things many men are successful in, and I think everyone should be treated with basic fairness, equal pay for equal work experience, etc.

The foreigners that you say haven't ''learned'' that women are equal, they just have more traditional values than you do, and many women are happy with those traditional gender roles. It doesn't mean that the foreigner is less advanced than you are, or that they beat or mistreat their women, there is simply a different balance. Women are seen as very important, but may not be held to the same societal standards that men are. And who really cares anyway, so long as they are happy?

Mex, dear, as you might notice from my reference to stuff posted by Hank before, this was purely tongue in cheek response.

Though it has some points on reality as well. Finnish society is rather equal regarding gender. Not totally, not even near, but very.

It has it's downsides.

Just to play devil's advocate... Don't you think it is often true that women are happy with "traditional" role until novelty wears off? That tends to be true more often than people like to admit.

On sidenote, traditional finnish female position is surprisingly strong. As Hank has told in this forum, in ye olde days person who held the keys of the house was wife, not husband.

Have to do some double checking on details but traditional attire of wife had huge keyring.

For the simple reason that the wife was the only one sober enough out of the pair to unite said key with the door lock
Political correctness is the belief that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
