Just got a positive decision!

I was away on a business trip when my application went into processing. I notified Migri beforehand with return date 19th July.

But I decided to end my trip urgently and returned back to Finland yesterday 08.07 in the evening. I sent message on Enterfinland that I am back and attached my boarding pass (thanks to one forum member who mentioned it).

Today at around 08:30 in the morning I got decision.

Applied 04 October 2022. Diary number 107xx. Tampere.

Nothing yet. Still waiting fingers crossed. Applied and visited migri office 5th of December. But I'm hopeful that when they get back to the office after the summer holidays I should get the decision in August.

I also applied Dec 5th...but Iam afraid its gonna be forever. Really lottery

It really seems like a lottery sometimes... Hopefully it won't take so long! I am checking this forum very frequently with the hope to read that the applications sent in 2024 have started to be processed.

I applied in January 2023 and this morning I received an email notifying that my application has been moved to stage 2 "In Progress" (finally after 16 months waiting!!).

How long does stage 2 usually take? I haven't received so far any email from Migri to supplement documents (still a couple of payslips missing).

Really varies depending on the background check they need to do. Sometimes it can take awhile. Sometimes it’s approved within minutes.

Given the new push to tackle the 2022 and early 2023 people, now would be a great time to look at the graphs showing what applications are being processed. It's a shame we can't.

Yesterday, I saw a post by @broccoli that he got his decision. He had applied on the 4th of October, and his diary number was 107xx.

I applied on the 3rd of October, and I am still waiting. My diary number is 88xx.

What worries me is how there can be a difference of almost 2000 in diary numbers when we applied only one day apart. This suggests that there might be categories of citizenship applications.

Additionally, it seems that Migri makes decisions on a completely random basis or by category, where applying early doesn't matter.

I emailed to Migri and asked about my application since I cannot track the queue anymore with Chat bot. They answered that my application is assigned to the queue where the next application applied on 13.01.2023 will be processed. Then I asked does it mean I need to wait 1 year for it because I applied in December 2023. They just said different application has different speeding time, and it is hard to tell. They didn't deny or agree with my question. Now I am afraid the worst scenerio is that my application is pending there forever

The new citizenship law has been approved by the parliament today.

Hi, has anyone heard any definite updates on whether the new citizenship law is going to be applied to pending applications? And when it is going to happen? (the law text says on 20.07 while in the media they mention October '24).

My theory:

When a person assigned to a "long queue", they are assigned to a specific Senior employer. There are only several of these Senior employers, so our waiting time is very long. But some employers work faster, some go on vacation (and then the whole queue is on pause). Cases do not go from one employer to another.

That explains why I have already got my decision and others from August 2022 or October 2022 havent yet.

There's a reply on the migri Facebook page where a migri official mentioned the new law will not affect pending applications and they will be processed with the old laws, so nothing to worry about till October 1 onwards
