Applying for Citizenship 2024

Is there anyone who passed the Swedish language exam waiting or has received a decision? Everything I’ve provided has been in Swedish and I am wondering if I should upload English translations of everything because maybe there are more case workers who handle applications in English than there are case workers who handle application in Swedish.

I doubt that migri workers process citizenship applications in English.

Do not worry, we applied together with a co-worker, I applied in Finnish and he in Swedish. He has got his citizenship in 5 months and I had to wait for one more month.

You can apply one month before. It won't be a problem.

It will mean that automated decision can't be made.

Is the 4-year period residency requirement + YKI certificate counted as "exemption from 5-year period"? If so, the automated decision is not applicable for applicants who have fulfilled 4 years.

Did anybody receive automated decision in this forum? I read here only friends of friends received automated decision.

I became a Finnish citizen!

Visited Migri 1.6.2023
Decision 18.7.2024

So I waited for 13 months and a half.

I'm from a visa-free non-EU country. I applied for my first residence permit based on family ties while already in Finland. After only 1 month I got the first residence permit.

I applied for the permanent residence permit around the same time that I applied for citizenship, because in case the citizenship application would take too long to be processed (and it did) at least I'd feel more stable having the permit. I got the permanent residence permit in 4 months and I really think it was worth it, but I'll also be happy to return it to Migri when they send me the envelope.

So yes, Migri is working normally. I was ready to wait for 23 months or more, I had somehow accepted already that I'd be one of those cases, but thankfully my wait is over and I'll never have to deal with Migri again!

Hi I just received a positive decision today so just want to share some info that might be useful

I am from a South East Asian countries, came here as a student in 2015, held B RP until end of 2018 and in 20 something, I was one date late to renew my B RP so I think my B RP is interrupted a bit on A visa since 2019 until the beginning of this year I got an PR, I was laid off right after getting the PR but I just got new training contract starting from August.

Submitted application: 11.7.2023
Identity verification at Migri: 14.7.2023

Diary numer was 86XX/310/2023
Application went to stage 2 on 23.7.2024

Does anyone know, when migri starts proseeding the case, usually the notification comes to mail-, does it also come as SMS? I am a bit tired of always checking what is going on there and if they request additional info don't want to miss it

My queue was 8xxx at the start, and around 5000 when Kamu stopped.

Came to Finland with a scientific research visa in October 2019 from a North African country
I Applied using YKI (Swedish).
Income was coming from various grants and not a working contract.

2 weeks ago I called Migri to ask about my case and I was informed that it would take 2 years to start processing my application
