I applied at the end of December 2023. Last time I asked migri and they said that my queue is on the same as someone who applied in January 2023. I asked again the situation few days ago, and they answered that they start to process those apllicants applied at the end of November 2023. They gave me a new estimated time. It will be ready in 2-3 months. Hopefully they will keep that promise! November and December 2023, we are few more weeks/months to go!!
Did you contact migri through email? Quite surprised that the officer gave you that much info. From what I read they usually give safe answers such as ”processing can take up to two years so be patient” or something along those lines.

This is good development. Apparently the folks who handle the regular cases are back to work from their summer vacation.

Anyway, anyone from here whose application got approved through automatic processing? All I see are second-hand accounts of such happening but never from actual people involved.
I emailed to them. Normally they only answered to ask me wait patiently, but this time they generously gave a bit more information.

They didnt mention anything about slow or fast queue but I suppose my case should be straight forward enough not to be put in a slow queue.

My queue started as 86xx. I came as a student, graduated from a Finnish university, worked part-time during my studies and having a permanent job at this moment.

does anyone have information about when the chatbot will start working?
Unfortunately, their communication on the matter has been abysmal.
It was taken down in May. Reasoning "suspicion of misuse" first communicated to customers over a month later via media. Migri later followed up stating that no sensitive data or security has been breached.

..Here we are approaching 3 months later and still no information on when to expect it to be back up.

In my opinion, this is more of a reason to complain than the long waiting times. I think it is still advertised on the website and through automated email distribution that this KAMU bot service is available to us!
We knew the expected waiting time going in and it is understood that nobody is entitled citizenship, however; we still good money for a service, which is now approaching a quarter of a year being only partially operable.

Finally, After 24 Months...

Post by Auringon_kukka » Mon Aug 12, 2024 11:13 am

MY time has come, finally. Almost 24 months to the day of proving my identity at migri. My application went into processing around mid-July, when I was abroad (I'd notified migri beforehand about my trip). On returning I uploaded a copy of my boarding pass to confirm that I was back in Finland. The following day (August 1) I received a request for additional information regarding my self-employment. I supplied the requested information a week later, only to receive another request for information concerning one of the documents. Responded the following day and received my positive decision this morning.

Some stats for the record (I came to Finland with a national passport and a residence permit on the basis of family ties):

Applied online: August 4, 2022
Visited migri: August 16, 2022
Initial queue number: 5565 (16.11.2022; first time I checked.)
Last queue number: 1602 (17.05.2024; kamu was offline after that)
Processing started: July 19, 2024 (at 23-month mark, the outer limit according to the online application tool)
First request for additional information: August 1, 2024
Second request for additional information: August 8, 2024
Decision: August 12, 2024

Like many before me, I am glad that this process is over. This forum has been an incredible source of information, and I've been happy to contribute when I could. The citizenship application process has gone through a lot of change in the past couple of years. Who would have guessed in 2022 that there'd be an automated decision-making process in place just two years later?

So, my citizenship journey--the application part at least--is over. To everyone from 2022 (2021?) who is still waiting, I have my fingers crossed for you and look forward to congratulating you when your time comes.

Yes, just read a post on Finnish YKI 2021 group of a person from December 2023 getting his/her positive decision. It was work based. The person had applied in December and went to Migri at the end of December. Only mentioned that he/she is from an Asian country.
