when my husband and I opened an account in Nordea we didn't need anything but our passports. At that time I didn't have my residence permit yet and my husband didn't even live in Finland, but it didn't seem to bother them at all

(this is what happens if you go to Parainen to be an au pair...)

I'm with Osuuspankki, I got the account before I moved here, no problem. I think I had to fill out the form at the post office to prove my postal address in Finland, and then they photocopy you're passport. A few weeks later, I got an electron card. It was a while ago, so I'm not 100% certain how I did it, but it know wasn't difficult, even though technically I was still living in the UK, I didnt have a job, or residency etc at that time..

And after I left I was just too lazy to change to another bank (didn't see any special reaosn why either).
