Yes, you can. You can go anywhere in the capital area (Espoo, Vantaa
and Helsinki) by bus, tram, train or metro for free with a child in a
stroller, as long as the child is under 6 years old.

So, does it mean that 6 years kids (pre-schooler kids) have to pay in public transport?
Thanks!

If I read it right... you mean only if the child is with pram the fare is free or else its chargeable.

I've now idea whose post you are trying to comment, but within the Greater Helsinki area traffic (excluding U-lines)
Child 0-6 years is free
Child 7-16 years needs a ticket (a children's ticket, cheaper than ticket for an adult, but not free)
An adult (one adult per child and stroller) travelling with a child 0-6 years and a pram/stroller is also free. The child does not actually need to sit on the stroller (I think this is a rather recent modification of the rules).

It doesn't apply for people living in Nurmijärvi, you should know. That includes if you decide to travel from Helsinki to Nurmijärvi. You will have to pay.
And I believe in Vantaa, Espoo and Helsinki children under the age of 7 can travel free, even when out of their strollers. But not the parents.
Often there are kind people with strollers who will fold their strollers up so more parents can fit on the buses with their kids. I saw it happen many a times when I use to travel with my son in the Helsinki region.
