Blame Rooney for being immature, for losing his nerve. That is fair. But do not blame for loosing the world cup, that was expected to happen and he seems like the perfect guy to fill in as scapegoat. You see, this was known, well before the tournament started:

If he's like Gazza (which he is) then it will be later rather than sooner. Expect him to lose the petulant / belligerent streak just about the time when he's past it as a footballer i.e. around 33-34.
