Remember that more than half of them come out of a bottle (this is not Sweden); but they're quite happy to let you check if the collar matches the cuffs

Sounds like you have your head screwed on the right way, you'll be ok here.

Go for it, i've been with my HB (she call that B for Brunette) for 8-9 years and have visited a few times every year. It just feels right for me to be here(and it has from my first visit), it's a lovely country, the people are quirky but nice and you'll no doubt live a healthier live style without the mad rush and panic that is expected of you in England, well certainly London anyway. You tend to worry what you'll miss from home but if you look at it from the other angle you'll realise you dislike the transport, cost of housing, terrible food, fear of violence, reality TV, homogenous high streets, and everyone drinking a litre of starbucks on their way to work  etc etc I'll also no doubt start laughing at the english two tap system and love of bathroom carpets on my next visit home.

I've only learnt bits and pieces of the languge over the years but already in my first week i'm realising i can understand more than i thought and i'm learning more everyday, that still means of course that i won't be confident for another 2-3 years but it's actually quite fun being totally confused by what someone is saying to you then thinking about it and realising you can grasp bits of it and you'd better concentrate or you'll never learn.

I couldn't possibly comment about the 'other' HBs but

 I enjoy the view :D

Some people need to be hit by a clue-by-four. Some people need it repeatedly...

Exchanges

Post by Ramona » Fri Dec 08, 2006 2:48 pm

Hi guys, I’m back. Just a quick update to say I have been thinking of a possible exchange year in Finland since last year.

I have contacted the relevant people and spoken to my mother (though not my father). I have yet to speak to the principal of my school, but I am hoping to soon. Any tips for me on how to convince them all?

:?: ... didn't know you'd gone anywhere... who are you anyway?

Exchange year in Finland, from a UK / Norn Iron school...? Not going to happen, it would completely balls up GCSE's / A-Levels.

Convince them? Why would they need convincing? Exhange year is always good, even when it turns out to be a sour experience like one of mine (you know, growing up as a person and such).

Or would they need convincing about Finland? You would not exactly be in some dangerous jungle, Finland is just an ordinary western country.

Who am I? My name is Ramona. I live in NI. I didn’t go anywhere, I just didn’t visit this place for ages.

Yeah, so what? I’d still be happy to do it.

And for the record, I think it’s my dad will need convincing.
