I have the card in the other trousers pocket. It probably does not have due to the personal information law, so the official letters stopped having it in 2000 or 2001 or so.
Jaha, does not is what I meant to type. It does not have the personal number on the voting card. Full name and home address though and voting place. Actually, I have just noticed there are two words of Swedish on the thing.. my voting place is a Swedish speaking school. Well, there is a bonus...

Basically it's same for the citizenship application (yours is citizenship declaration). You'll get a decision letter informing you that you are a Finnish citizen as of the date of APPROVAL.

UVI also sends a letter saying that you need contact the local police to get your residence permit canceled (since you're citizen now, no need for the residence permit).

After that, it's up to you on how to do with your citizenship now. I guess most people will go to the local police to apply for a new passport. You can attach the decision letter from UVI as the proof as your citizenship, if your information has not updated in their system for some reason.

Only level 3 is required for the citizenship application. For more info, check the following links:

Also if you get official translator papers you shouldn't have to take
the language test anymore.

Ja eiköhän tuo ole "haudutus-".

Now I feel like a Finn who is not comfortable talking in English!
I need an official Course so that I can spend and allocate that time for it and actually attend the course. Can anyone recommend one close to kirkkonummi? Moreover, I am looking for someone who can teach me conversational Finnish as in encouraging me to talk back to them in Finnish and not stumble back into english when I blunder and try to explain things back in English..so I m kinda looking for a Dominiatricks for Spoken Finnish language. Anyone Anyone? 8)

The voting card has a bar code that most likely contains the ID number or some other form of identifying info (at least the clerk showed that to a reader and did not have to type anything when I was voting the other day).

Interesting, mine has no bar code. Perhaps it depends on where you live and how up to date the technology is there.

The bar code is a small one in the top left corner near the name.

Definitely not there. No bar code. Perhaps they send a different version to people abroad? Although, I would have thought that is unlikely because mine clearly lists my designated voting station in my registered home municipality. Unfortunately I can't really tell if it is a special "abroad" version because as I said, it is only in Finnish. The only two words of Swedish on the entire thing are in the address of the said voting station... as it is in a Swedish-speaking school.

The one they sent here in Finland looked like some magazine advertisement. It was really close to be thrown into the recycling bin  .

It really looked similar to the "Telvis- raati" invitation that came earlier this winter...

haha, ok, in that case it is definitely different. This one is a very dull piece of A5 paper (not actually magazine style gloss or card) that arrived in a plain envelope from the Magistrate together with a list of places to vote in advance in "central and south Europe". I suppose embassies etc don't have bar code gear etc, so it is not necessary for the bar code... who can say! Oh well, that is that one sorted out anyway.

it's called the oath ceremony - I know, because I just got my US Citizenship (dual citizen).
