Try reading the FrancoFinn newspaper as well. If you need a copy find Mr Poisson (Lionel) in Hakaniemi Kauppahalli market at the back.
Nokia and Nissan are both great employers. Both work in English (except Nokia Finland of course). But in terms of foreigners working there: there are a handful of foreigners in Nokia who have been found in Finland but I would guess that 95% of non-Finns in Nokia House have been brought over 'on exchange' from other country offices or headhunted from senior positions abroad.
In Nissan Nordic Europe I think I am right in saying that every foreigner there has been brought in from an overseas business unit. There are lots of South Africans (from SA!) and lots of French (from the Paris office). They have come over from the other Nissan area offices and set up a fantastic company to deal with the Nordic-Baltic markets.
I have worked a lot for both companies as a supplier and, like me, there are a handful of foreigners on the agency side who have been found in Finland, but directly employed found in Finland - very, very few.
Again, I am not trying to be negative - there is lots of skilled specialist work available with these companies on the supplier and agency side - but they are only employing seasoned pros directly and then cherrypicking the best people from their suppliers.
