Now the shrinks can have the time of their lives analysing him..
He seems to have similar "interests" to what was revealed about the boy, about same age, who blew up Myyrmäki, and himself, a few years back.
He also came from North Vantaa or Tusala..must be something in the water.
People do not become more irritable as they grow old - they simply stop making the effort to avoid annoying others.

Not sure, after all. The latest info (radio news) from the police says that "the shooter
is no longer dangerous to outsiders... and that police have control of the situation".
That could mean a few different things at least.

It appears that he didn't want to try to survive ("survival of the fittest" ) in prison where there are so many who are more fit than he is/was. He had already proven that he was not as fit enough to survive in his school society.
Socialism has never managed to create anything beyond corpses, poverty and oppression.

I have posted a reply in another thread. I feel for the students and parents in this school in Tuusula. I would like to know how members of this board especially with children, thinks about their children's safety. Will anything change? This student was definitely a nutter. This is maybe too soon to think about change but the U.S. experience shows that it could happen again. There are many people who need good mental health care.

This makes me so, so, so sad. There is nothing I can say...
Maybe the parents should have noticed, but I feel horrible for them as they will have to shoulder the burden of this. Even if no one blames them (outwardly), I am sure they must feel terribly guilty. But I am sure people will point the finger at them as they want someone to blame.
Hopefully the enormous media coverage this gets (was on the front page of all the US news websites as far I could tell, can't say for other countries) doesn't trigger any copycats.

OMG!!!! I can't believe it. I would say that the MAIN reason I decided to raise my daughter in Finland was because many of the crimes/dangers against children we have back in the states just simply do not exist over here. One example I had was school shootings. I hope this doesn't become a trend. If the guns are readily available and even if the purpose is meant for hunting, (which I'm totally against btw, but that's a whole other issue) any disgruntled teenager/kid who wants to get back at a teacher, bully, ex, etc... can just think, "hey, I can pull a Jokela if anyone crosses me". My god, what a sad world we're living in if Finland isn't even immune to this sort of thing. I'm really in shock.

yea,the main reason i wanted to live in finland is because of low crimes and things, and now this.
personally with it being posted all over the internet and such he just wants publicity and to be remembered in history....and he got it.
i read he shot himself in the head and is in critical condition in hospital...those people always try to kill themselves after it...why not just kill themselves, why kill innocent people first?

I don´t think this is some future trend. I read the guy´s text (now removed), and it is obvious that he is suffering from severe schizophrenia. Nobody healthy thinks that he is God.
