It is so sad that it's funny.

Re: net prob
So I took those steps K. told me about. I almost had a heart attack. As soon as I installed AVG, for a minute or so, I had again just the local connection going on, but no net. I started to picture life without Dic... net.
So, desperately i restarted the computer and the connection came back. But still... no messenger, skype, DC. But AVG. Better than nothing
Ah, that ftp... didn't work.

Get a mac.And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch
Re: net prob
I might just do that.. Too much trouble with this. AVG can't update, the connection is 'Local only' again and I cannot use anything else but e-mail, forum.. Yuck.

I am still waiting for K.'s message, what to do further.. but i see i can't get it.
So, off to changing OS I go. I thought at WinXP, for the woment, but! before that i should have the drivers for it.
Motherboard: Acer EM61PM/EM61SM and Realtek High Defition Audio.
Or what, this PC i've got only supports Vista OS?.. Since i cannot really find the drivers on the net.
If that can be a pain in this ass, i guess i could reinstall Vista properly (maybe it has included those drivers or stuff) and start freesh. I do have a activation key, although i don't have Vista on CD. ( can i have the posibility to download win vista from the net and install in on my PC, maybe without writing it before on CD?) Or can I write just this Vista i already have on the computer to a CD so it would be much easier? Where do i have the executables and the other folders i have to burn the CD or DVD with?
Any advices? Any extra knowledge on this? I really want a fresh start! I think that should be the answer: format disk before reinstall.

I am/was very wary of Vista, too, but I got this laptop with Vista on it, and I am surprised how well it works (so far, knock on wood very hard). The only glitch I've had was when I wanted to install Avast. That pretty much broke Vista down, don't know why, so don't ask. I got a blue screen with something about memory dump and then the window with start up in safe mode. I uninstalled Avast in safe mode, restarted and all was fine again.
I switched the settings back to Classic, switched off all the fancy things that eat RAM and I switched off the gawdawfull User Account control (whoever invented that, should be hanged!
) and now it works like a charm.

Make a note of your graphic/lan/audio, format, load Xp. If XP doesn't load drivers go to site to download driver, e.g. Realtekjazzori wrote:I am still waiting for K.'s message, what to do further.. but i see i can't get it.

Your motherboard is a rebranded FOXCONN motherboard, never heard of them and don't think I want to. Which board don't know, you could try asking one of the many motherboard info sites, though if you're not planning to upgrade anything...
The other way of doing this if you haven't got a Vista disk, is to buy/borrow another hdd, disconnenct your drive with Vista on it, load XP on the other drive, see that everything works ... You could also put the disk with Vista on it in a cupboard until they've worked out all the 'fixes' for it, but from what I've read your comp will only run basic vista.
