So you think it's even ok to tell someone the place they live is "backwards" or "unsophisticated". I really like where I live, my housing is ultra modern, the local leisure facilities are modern and plentiful, local health care is top notch (I've never seen the queues or delays that people from Helsinki tell me exist), we have very low crime rates, etc, etc.

Far from backwards........

Well, if you look at the demographics, those living outsoide the fence a rarer than Swedish speaking Finns.

I'm not talking demographics mook (you go look at them all you want), I'm talking attitude. Fact is, not all immigrants live inside the wire, however most immigrants inside the wire act as if they all do. That pisses off some outside-the-wire immigrants.

And I'm adequately aware as to raamv's location thanks. However I do hope you had a nice little satisfying giggle to yourself for highlighting a technicality in something that I think is rather a serious subject, especially if individual, and sometimes lonely, immigrants across the whole of Finland are to be encouraged to feel part of a larger immigrant community. It matters little to me personally, I'm talking about the community.

If it's any consolation, same thing goes on with native Finns too...

Community? Haven't found one of those here yet (although it is decidedly better that Basingstoke)

I'll pour a little diesel into the flames. Someone else can do the honors, but the Kauppakorkeakoulu (HSE) professor of economics agrees with me on here be salmon-snakes.

I dont understand why someone cannot live in the middle of nowhere yet very close to the center of activity..
and just cos someone who lives in the docks are satiated..dont mean anything cos there are plenty of others who still are feeling lonely and want to be part of a community..
I try my best to form one or be part of one close to where I live
most Folx that I know moved to the docks cos they cant afford having the same kind of living standard in the city... IN a few years time they do tend to move closer to the capital area..
and no matter what kind of ultra-modern or leisure facilities exist in the middle of nowhere or that so called top-notch service available...there are hidden problems in those sort of local communities that takes years to discover or are ignored in some way or the other...
When was the last time a kunta was ever asked if it was profitable or not?
When was the last time a kunta had a budget surplus? etc
Any immigrants at all who are part of any kunta's elected official in the docks? I think not...

Well... Does Savonlinna count as “the ’docks”? (Stephen Condit, page 12... See here as well. I’m not sure about his background but it says in that PDF that he was born in the US.)
