American Items (In K-Market): Requests?
Re: American Items (In K-Market): Requests?
I would like for them to actually import items from the US rather than some other country that uses a slightly different recipe and slaps the same label on it. I bought Oreo cookies at Stockmann last year and was disappointed. They were imported from some other place and the taste just wasn't the same.
I've been trying to find local substitutes for everything. It's really nice that the K shops have brownie mixes and cake mixes, but I do choke at the price and go home to make my own from scratch. Not everyone can do that and it's nice that they are available.
I'd love to have some real Hidden Valley Ranch salad dressings and some Bull's Eye barbecue sauce. I'd definitely buy those locally.

BBQ sauces.
Liquid smoke.
Double stuff oreos.
reese's peanut butter cups and reese's pieces.
Ranch salad dressing.
Mac and cheese.
Thats all I can think of now, I know there is a lot more though
I think a lot of those in my list can be found here or at least at times found here but I haven't seen ranch dressing yet.

Only 47 more days until I'm shopping in the motherland.

Got all of those, except the double stuffed Oreos from K-Kamppi, they only had the plain ones... and Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing too...jas_rho wrote:BBQ sauces.

I guess I gotta go look there. I have only recently moved down "south" here from Tampere so don't know where to get what. Of course a lot of its so expensive its not worth to buy regularly but its nice once in a while. I actually ordered some Jack Daniel's BBQ sauce from ebay. Turned out to only be 4.50€ per 539g bottle including shipping. Not so bad if you ask me. They came in packages of 9 thoughmCowboy wrote: Got all of those, except the double stuffed Oreos from K-Kamppi, they only had the plain ones... and Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing too...

Cant really complain about the prices as the import Taxes are the reason..
I still am paying €8.9 per Bottle of A-1 BBQ sauce
Until I can find a steady supply at a better rate..Online or Not..dont matter..
But with the Spate of the Exchange rate..It seems that going online would make sense..

Yup, plus the demand is so low that even a single pallet of Welch's Grape Jelly is likely to satisfy the whole American demand in Finland during the shelf life of the product. So the American manufacturer needs to find a pallet space in a mixed container for shipping to Finland. Then the single pallet arrives in Finland and is sent to a distribution depot. Then the pallet has to be broken down, and a single box manually restacked onto another mixed pallet (of other luxus products) ready for distribution to individual supermarkets (who each hope that they will manage to sell all 24 jars in the box before it goes out of date).raamv wrote:Cant really complain about the prices as the import Taxes are the reason..
Compare that to say baked beans in the UK, where boxes of beans are stacked on a pallet by the manufacturer, and this same pallet needs no dismantling and restacking, as a single supermarket can easily sell out a full pallet worth of beans before it does out of date.
Add in the extra paperwork and customs declarations that need completing for trade from outside the EU....
And the buyer/technical people from the supermarket who perhaps need to go and do a technical audit of the manufacturing plant in the states...
This is where the extra cost comes from...
Political correctness is the belief that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I never did quite understand the point of cake mixes since it seems that for the same effort (or very nearly anyway), one could make a proper cake that tastes much better... Anyone care to enlighten me on the matter?
Finland -> Australia -> Finland -> Canada -> Finland -> the UK -> Finland

Whether they can't or just won't doesn't matter to me. I'm not going to criticize anyone who uses a mix. And simple me, I do use measuring tools.Iseult wrote:karen wrote:It's really nice that the K shops have brownie mixes and cake mixes, but I do choke at the price and go home to make my own from scratch. You don't even need measuring tools.

Re: American Items (In K-Market): Requests?
Hey thanks for the responses everyone!
For some of you - I would definitely recommend checking out the Kamppi and Iso Omena K-Market - I have already seen a number of items that people are requesting for sale.
Including (at least 3 varieties) of BBQ sauce, Ranch Dressing, Peanut Butter Cups/Peices, Bisquick, etc.
Other than that, keep them coming!
