I'm pretty sure those are +1.5 you get there, not -1.5...penelope wrote:So basically you can see without glasses anyway.
I think you can get -1.5 from Tiimari at about 9,90€.... you were ripped off![]()
Re: Help Finding the Cheapest Place for Eye Glasses
For anyone needing glasses, now is the time at Eyen. All of there glasses including the frames, lenses and exam are 99 euros. Now thats cheap!!

Re: Help Finding the Cheapest Place for Eye Glasses
Well, they are only bits of plastic. Nothing special. Not even great quality plastic. I guess the metal frames might be better value for money, if they have them.
Specsavers has frames starting at 9€....
I have bought frames from both places and they are OK, but IMO they look cheap, especially after a year or so.
edit.... so that Eyen price includes the lenses (for simple corrections...). Trouble is you are getting really bog standard lenses for that price with no coatings. IMO, they would be scratched to bits within a year. It's one thing being cheap on frames, but cheap lenses are a waste of time.

Do you have experiences with lenses from Specsavers?
I did some inquiries and it seems that Specsavers was cheaper on lenses-only (70 €) than Eyen (99 €) - (I should add though that I have a mild myopia only, of around -1.5 which might seem little to some but it is enough to render one unable to drive and recognize people further away than a few metres, which is still annoying despite not being life-threatening ).
Anyway, I asked Specsavers-guy what's the variety of lenses they have, and he said they're of the same kind in my prescription range, the only difference would be if I had frameless-glasses. I'm asking this because when I got my first ever glasses from Instrumentarium, they asked me all kinds of questions as to what quality of lenses I'd like to have etc. So I'm wondering what would be the "normal" lenses you get from Specsavers -- do they have some anti-scratch-coating or something?
With regard to the general discussion -- I personally wouldn't recommend Instrumentarium, somehow everytime I entered this place I left feeling like a fool. To my taste, they're really expensive, and then their business tactics are somewhat strange -- or then maybe it's just my inexperience with the optician-business and perhaps it's standard practice that the price for the lenses the optician referred to was that *of a single lens* which however emerged only once I started wondering why I suddenly had to pay double than expected. And that the extra insurance on the frames, valid for two years, means that you can make use of it *once* during two years and then it's expired (even if the two years aren't over yet).

Re: Help Finding the Cheapest Place for Eye Glasses
Another question, since I'm going to Specsavers today -- how would you say "anti-scratch coating" or something to the same effect in Finnish?
Cheers..!

Re: Help Finding the Cheapest Place for Eye Glasses
I got my last pair (in fact two pairs for the price of one) from Specsavers. I had a choice of three different quality lenses. I took the best quality for the regular glasses (I have strong myopia and astigmatism and I need varifocals) and then mid-range for the sunglasses. I think all the lenses have the UV coating included (that's pretty standard these days but I always check) and then I think I paid extra for the anti-scratch coating.

Thanks a lot!
Re: Help Finding the Cheapest Place for Eye Glasses
Eyen was 99Euros for everything not just the lenses. It included the frames (or frameless as I got), the lenses, and the eye exam. Also the lenses from Eyen included a scratch coating and an anti-glare coating. Again all for 99. My wife just got herself a pair as well and they have side pieces that bend in crazy shapes but return to normal. They are great when our little guy reaches for the glasses. He can bend the glasses, they wont break, but just return to their original shape. Pretty cool.blaugrau wrote:Do you have experiences with lenses from Specsavers?

Re: Help Finding the Cheapest Place for Eye Glasses
Thanks for the update. At that price I might be tempted to get another pair.... But my prescription is weird so I usually end up paying a bit more than the standard rate. Will check it out though.
