Yes there are homes on Granville Island...some artists and musician types. Houseboats are everywhere on the lower mainland..just have to look around... near Stanley Park, Richmond, Horseshoe Bay, Langley, PoCo, Mission, etc. etc. Get yourself outside of the city itself and a whole new world will open up and would allow you to speak for the West Coast!

We had two toddlers with us where ever we went. Sometimes they didn't travel so well. If I had to do it over again, I would definitely take the scenic route and appreciate the landscape much more. For one I have never been to Vancouver Island... bit sad when you think of it.
...but who here has been to ThunderBay?... raise hands...chuckles.

Ahhh another kindred spirit. Once upon a time I was doing some research on the Finnish Immigrants (like all good Canadian Finns of the second generation) I was shown some of the historical sites by Jorma Halonen, who, at that time was the Pres. of the Finnish Historical Society. He was also "the" union rep and I was going through my socialist phase which I'm pleased to say I've grown out of. Spent a couple of days looking over old photographs and letters in the Finnish Archival Dept. at Lakehead University. Visited the cemetary where I'd say at least 2/3 had Finnish names on the head stones. All and all I found the whole trip depressing.
Saving grace was the great pea soup at "Hoito" restaurant (is that the name?... or was it "Toivo") ...yep it was that long ago...smiles.

Not alot to do in TB but I hear it's coming around.
