Finnish characters on non Finnish keyboard

does anyone have trouble with the alt + codes? everytime I try to type these codes it doesn't work. weird things start to happen with the page layout. Bare with me, it's not my computer and I know nothing about them. Is it possible for someone to over ride these alt codes as other shortcuts?

Remember that alt is different key from altgr, also iirc the numbers must be typed from numeric keypad, not from row above letters.

Could you consider getting fi/sw-keyboard. otherwisel like the one you toggle now,the difference being that you have
your ä,ö(and å)right there, no need to resort to alt-thingies
