In the UK I knew there was such a thing as 3-phase but I had never encountered it.

I guess that there aren't that many 5kW electric sauna stoves hanging on the walls there...

Your 110 volt transformer stills runs off 230/240 volt supply.But a three phase supply (415volts) will still have 240 running off them.

A house could have a three phase supply, but the supply to the sockets will still be 240.
So you could still use them, but you would better off with 240 tools (what if your 110 tool or your transformer breaks - no parts for them).
Power tools don`t run off three phase, its for heavy loads or for heavy start up loads (like woodworking machinery)
My workshop here in the UK is three phase, but all my machinery is single phase.

Ps Screwfix all your powertools in the uk before you come, leave your uk plugs on and just make up entension leads with Finnish plugs
