Let me guess: That the Lisbon convention has no influence on the subjective decision made by employer representative when screening potential candidates for a job - except when having a specific degree is a formal legal requirement, which does not seem to be the case here. It is easy to believe that employers prefer people from universities that have some knowledge of - and realistically excluding the few very, very best from the top, British universities are pretty much unknown to most Finns.
The reason for the snobbery is due to the difference in quality of students and quality of teaching at Bachelors awarding AMK and Masters awarding Universities.
The main point is correct, but in principle you can get a Bachelor's degree from Finnish universities now too, in practice though I believe very few stop at that. It hasn't been done before so there is not or there is expectation among students that there will not be demand for those with just a Bachelor's degree.

What I'm trying to say is basically:
sinikala wrote:Anyway don't get stuck on the Finnish credits system. A UK honors degree is 360 CATS points, but without frame of reference that is meaningless to you.
-> finnish employer don't have a frame of reference (other than it should be same as bachelors or masters anywhere)
and
sinikala wrote:The Lisbon accord means that the UK bachelors degree is recognised in Finland, even though it is recognised in Finland, a bachelors degree from a good UK university is not the same thing as a bachelors from a Finnish AMK. It's quite clear that you, like many others here are unable to grasp that concept. I'm pretty confident that 99% of B.Sc. graduates from a decent UK uni would fly through a Finnish M.Sc.. The reverse is not true.
-> finnish employer don't have a frame of reference to compare their own Finnish education to some University from UK (that can be university in the same way as UAS/AMK is university)

And yes, Finnish universities do have better student material than AMKs and I wouldn't compare my AMK degree to bachelors from Uni. Apples and oranges. But what can I do? Lisbon says that bachelors is bachelors and Bologna is still underway and it won't change what I studied and how I did it back then.

And then we have people who hire other people and who have other things to do than studying what some degree includes.
