So yes, there is a "county registrar" in the maistraatti, but theres a common number one can call to get things sorted as its all "in the computer"

Thank you to all for your feedback! I am going to start with the Finnish Embassy here in Finland, along with some contacts I have directly in Finland. I appreciate all of your assistance while I follow what I know to be true in my heart and mind - that is I'm SISU and I want the papers to prove it. Kiitos!

ANNOUNCEMENT:

It has now been determined that villages and towns have NO representation in the government of Finland. There are NO government representatives.

Read the above thread, as evidence. Meanwhile, I am out of here!

Or, more precisely, they have better things to do than answer whines from foreigners who do not grasp the proper order of things. Like, you know, trying to represent actual citizens of this country.

Good, that's a start. Although it would be nice to know how long you have lived in Finland with all these deep cultural and political insights...

And yes, Susan, Finnish Embassy in your home country is the way to go, they know more about these kind of regulations than some local administration in the middle of nowhere where they mostly handle local (duh!) affairs. :)
Here in Finland, I have done everything I can to blend-in with the Finns, I've changed my hair color, wore differnet clothes, got different

I still don't know what you meant by "government representatives". Explaining yourself might be more constructive than leaving and slamming the door behind you.

You may find that it is more helpful to email the consulate or embassy of Finland in your own country rather than call up. Just personal experience. Replies I have gotten by email have been far more helpful than those by simple phone call.
I̶f I can find any way to insult someone, believe me I will.

PM sent to SusanK.

Maybe SusanK could tell if I told the straight story, or not. ;-)

Why did SusanK not speak of any fabrication, falsehood, fiction and/or lies which I might have told?

Do you, Tiwaz, spend your Internet life with your finger stuck up your, er...nose?

Because she hasn't posted at all after your PM.

Again, I'm not trying to be hostile. I'm just very confused by the situation: the native Finns in this thread clearly didn't understand what you were talking about earlier. I might not know the details of our immigration and citizenship systems, but I have general knowledge on how the Finnish society works and I'm really drawing a blank here. This might not help SusanK anymore, but I'd at least like to satisfy my curiosity.

You can PM me if you don't want to answer here.

As noted, she has not said a damn thing. Second, she apparently has no clue of how things work in Finland. So she might not have yet realized you have been talking out of your arse.

SusanK speaks Finnish, as her parents are from Finland, and she has relatives living in Finland. But how do YOU know what SusanK knows, and how do YOU know what I said to her?

Well, considering I was BORN and RAISED in Finland, have been majority of my adult life in Finland, speak Finnish as native (and not second hand immigrant), have worked with Finnish bureaucracy and system for nearly all of my life...

SusanK herself clearly does not know, since if she did she would not be asking. Neither do her relatives help, as again else she would not be asking.

As for what you have to say, you already made your point on "correct" address to approach on the matter.
I am far more aware of what kind of officials there are and are not. And your "government representative" is total, absolute BS. Closest equivalent is either parliament member of that area or local council member. NEITHER of whom are correct address for SusanK to approach.
