OK.
From now on I will spend laundry sitting on top of the washing machine making sure it doesn't dance all over the bathroom..

Thanks for your opinions, guys :)

I understand that there can be some pleasant side-effects. It might get that you start to enjoy laundry.

There is a phenomenal amount of kinetic energy tightly contained within a spinning washing machine. Catastrophic failure of a bearing bed or other critical component is often described as an "exploded washing machine," even though no actual combustion or explosion has occurred. (Though it can be hard to convince witnesses there was no actual explosion.) In the worst cases, plastic is fragmented, metal is ripped, shrapnel flies, and the remains of the frame may go through a wall. It's all about that rotational energy of mass times very high speed suddenly directed to new courses.

Google-image the phrase exploded washing machine to see what the results can look like. Sitting on top of one is the last place you'd want to be in such a scenario, and while sitting can reduce walking and minor room damage, it won't prevent this kind of self-destruction event.

Even during a non-spin cycle, a lesser catastrophic failure is possible and can be -- let's just say "very wet."

Chances are that none of this will happen to you even with your damaged machine. But then chances are that you'll never be in a high-speed collision with a large truck, either. Nobody in such an accident woke up expecting it to happen to them on that day or even in that lifetime. But they probably wore a seat belt.
As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.

Well, some of the bearings might be a bit worn. I would think it's be very hard for them to escape...

Just use it until it stops working.

Worn bearings are one thing, which sometimes "howl", but a broken bearing is altogether another matter.

Little bits of a broken bearing could then jam the rest of the bearing, causing catastrophic results.

it WORKS but not for long. Darn, some people are so black-and-white. :))
A fractured case on a bearing is considered half broken.

For some people, the bearing is always half-fixed

here's a video how to replace the bearings. I bought a washing machine door handle from these guys and everything went well replacing it. Bearings are obviously more challenging.

I would like to sugar-coat this, but in all honesty I can not. Ball-bearings and other roller-bearings are made to very close tolerances. And bearings can wear, often then making a "howling" sound. But whenever any part of a bearing breaks or goes out of tolerance, then you have a completely broken bearing.

Maybe some fruit with that order

collapsed bearing
Bearing with 1 roller missing
Bearing housing with worn grooves
Bearing with excessive wear
Bearing housing cracked but not destroyed enough to be collapsed
compressed bearing
warped housing/warped inner

Half broken sounded better than completely broken :(
