Re: Getting married in finland.
thank you for your answer :]
Why is finland so helpful? i didn't expect any payments out of it.
Would it be enough for rent? cause that is all i care about, Rent.
does anyone know how long the course goes on for ?

The constitution says in section 19:reachthesky wrote: Why is finland so helpful? i didn't expect any payments out of it.
"Everyone shall be guaranteed by an Act the right to basic subsistence in the event of unemployment, illness, and disability and during old age as well as at the birth of a child or the loss of a provider."
And everyone includes foreigners (you just need to overcome the initial hurdle to become resident). The fact that social security is available to people who have never contributed to the system is opposed by many which can (at least partly) explains their attitudes towards foreigners. The system is built at a time well before EU membership and when foreigners were a very small group. I think it's too off topic to explain my personal views on the issue.
Depends on the income of your spouse. The answer is yes if you are not otherwise able to.reachthesky wrote: Would it be enough for rent? cause that is all i care about, Rent.

Until you learn enough to be employable. Hopefully there's someone around to tell personal experiences but this is a long term project.reachthesky wrote: does anyone know how long the course goes on for ?
Re: Getting married in finland.
Prior to 1990 not only the number of foreigners but also long term unemployed was very close to zero, so with a pretty good approximation anybody who lived here had contributed, was expected to contribute or had born with some unfortunate condition.betelgeuse wrote:The system is built at a time well before EU membership and when foreigners were a very small group.

Re: Getting married in finland.
Paying 700 Euro per month no matter how much your spouse earns is of course a recent benefit that was not available before 2013.
Mr. Katainen is of course proud of having achieved cuts to child benefits while spending money on making it financially more attractive to import a foreign spouse.

Re: Getting married in finland.
Labor market subsidy is more like 550 €/month pretax and this is not the most obvious benefit increase that helps disproportionately immigrants. At least the the more recent ones got paid via integration programs even under the old rules.

Re: Getting married in finland.
I side with GermanInHelsinki with this one. The exact amount varies by month since it's not paid during weekends but the Kela website says it averages about 700 euros a month:tummansininen wrote:Rip is correct. Anything beyond that would be housing allowance which most foreigners on integration don't qualify for, since most come here either as a spouse of a working Finn (household is earning too much) or for work purposes (self is earning too much).Rip wrote:Labor market subsidy is more like 550 €/month pretax

Re: Getting married in finland.
The exact amounts vary based on personal circumstances (having kids etc.) It's possible to get that high but not for a one person household.cors187 wrote:long tearm unemployed and intergration stayer ,full tilt is a 1400/mth as i have been told.
Re: Getting married in finland.
I stand corrected on this one regarding the amount. As an explanation, I read the sentence, thought the amount seemed too high and put "työmarkkinatuki määrä" to google.
- and KELA has not properly updated their webpage. The visible part yes, but they have left the old meta data, which Google shows you, and that is what you read if you think you can save a little time and don't visit the actual page. Missed the news (I vaguely remember seeing it but did not properly register it). So depending on child count the pre tax amount is around 700-900€. Tax is somewhat over 100€, but anyway the net amount is significantly more than I thought.

This one I don't still believe. With toimeentulotuki there is no fixed upper limit but that of course very much depends on the total family income. I don't see how one could get that amount long term "no matter what your spouse earns".full tilt is a 1400/mth as i have been told

As a household for such a family it would be much higher than that. The kids alone rake in close to a thousand through child benefits:tummansininen wrote: I am guessing that the 1400/month might be for refugee families where nobody is working and there are six children?

I dont believe it either, but there are people on this type of money , because if you try to employ them, they want 2200-2400 minimum , 1200/m worth of hrs was a loss of time and money , 1600-1800 was not an option. 2200/m in hand gets some interest.Rip wrote:I stand corrected on this one regarding the amount. You have a sub culture of unemployable,.
Re: Getting married in finland.
That is not hard to believe, but I think their spouse (is there is one) isn't working either.cors187 wrote: I dont believe it either, but there are people on this type of money , because if you try to employ them, they want 2200-2400 minimum , 1200/m worth of hrs was a loss of time and money , 1600-1800 was not an option. 2200/m in hand gets some interest.
I'd say even you have a wrong table. Two adults and six children, that is roughly around 2500 €/month (tax free) + housing (and some other) costs.betelgeuse wrote:As a household for such a family it would be much higher than that. Re: Getting married in finland.
For a calculator based system , someone has the figures all smudgy(could be me).
If i was on 1400/m and had all my time , then to loose all my time would I require an extra 600/month? Nahhh.
800/month extra? Nope ! It has to be 1000/month extra.
2400/month is 15euro/hr and full 40hr weeks(total 160hr/month)
These seat warmers arnt worth 15euro an hr(on average)
Something fishy here.
Honestly theres fishy statistics all over this place.
