Another postage question.. about parcel delivery

It never used to be like this

...until email happened.


on the other hand...

but I was home, and even heard when the postman put the paper notice in the door...they didn't even try to ring the bell. In the tracking system they put that the delivery was attempted, but recipient wasn't at home.

That happens in London too, though. Not so much with the regular postal service but all the time with Yodel (a delviery compnay with a bad reputation). They just leave deliveries on the doorstep, don't even ring or knock.
