Its because of a relationship with a Finn
When we moved to Finland, my partner made it clear to me what to expect. And yes, she sounded much like Hank :D
(fortunately she doesn't look like him  )
So we made a careful decision and I knew beforehand that I would be counting trees.

By Jove, am I that much of an alien? Though yes, on the "friends" level only a few, but then again I was pretty much of a recluse after my divorce. Somehow peculiar is all the families (or single parents) I know are HBS cases except a few old childhood friends, but we don't "hang out" as much... a bit like "Mikan faijan BMW"... someone calls up at random after many years.

Travmies wrote:The problem is that yourself and Hank are giving a Black and white view of Finnish society, which any joker with a half-wit brain can do. The fact is we, who come to Finland generally do so, not because we love the cold winter, Finnish food, the countryside, lifestyle and so on. Its because of a relationship with a Finn, who ever that maybe. Yes, in some cases we stay if the relationship ends, but generally not. So, the ones of us who do stay in relationship love our partners far more than anyone else, because have to listen to your !"#¤% too
9O Percent of you who come don't really know anything else except for what your spouses have told you. You find it all very exotic and after 2mo of darkness, the novelty starts to wear off and you come to this site and start to moan about the depression. You start missing home and everythinq is sucky.

We have enough dads chasing their families out into the snow and perakammarin pojat hangin' from the trees during springtime (strange fruit). We don't need foreign exes with grutches or pale depressed foreigners, who can't even get counselling on their own language. Are you the one helping them then, cuz Finland sure as hell don't have the resources?

You will be surpriced how many do not, when it comes to men, the system is run by women, so its best to jump ship rather than get shagged by Social Services and Child welfare

So then what is wrong if the man knows this before he thinks with his dick? Not very nice for us who have to pay the child support after the fact for a county ward.

interestingly enough, over 70% of my friends who are foreign and are living in Finland, are divorced and half of them have kids and most of them are men. I guess my friends are more responsible then... but they didn't skip town.

So then we can send all the "speak English only" goths with a social worker degree from a "prestigious university" to knock at your door. After all getting a job is you just "need to think positive" like?

Let me think now was it DustyBin that said, before moving to pastures greener, he was from a village in the UK where everybody had a horse. No wonder you're content.
