I have called them multiple times and the answers were pretty similar, they don't have any time estimation for applications that are already in progress. They will contact if something is needed etc. The service point's initial estimation was one year. They only checked my ID and didn't take any other documents from me. Do you think that making an appointment might help?
Applying for Citizenship 2024

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
Guys, I wonder if anyone knows anything about self-employed (Oy) applicants and processing times. I applied in January 2024 and contacted migri a few weeks ago asking for estimations, they replied back saying that it would take 24 months.
I moved to Finland to work as a specialist 9 years ago, I was employed the entire time, two years ago I got my permanent residency and then registered my own Oy and have been working as a consultant since then. No issues with traveling history, single.
The only reason I can see for the estimations being so long in my case is that I am self-employed...(my friend with a similar background who applied in December 2023 has already received a positive decision, however he has been working as an employee).

Boy, do I feel for you! I, too, wonder what the hold-up is. Making an appointment likely won't advance matters, as the service points merely review the applications for completeness and send them into the processing queue. As others have suggested, you could seek legal assistance OR wait it out, if there is no urgency to receiving citizenship (i.e., you are here with a valid residence permit)._User123_ wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 9:49 amI have called them multiple times and the answers were pretty similar, they don't have any time estimation for applications that are already in progress. I get it that it's frustrating. Once your application is being processed, you have to keep migri abreast of any travel plans so your residence permit isn't cancelled while you're away.
Be sure to let us know as soon as you receive your decision. Many of us have our fingers crossed for you!
Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
unfortunately, this is already a long time to consider, of course, calls to migri have little effect on the process, but in any case, you will not be hit on the head for the demand. try calling anyway or making an appointment in person, since the estimated waiting period has expired, you have the right to worry. I wish you patience and a speedy resolution of the case._User123_ wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 9:49 amI have called them multiple times and the answers were pretty similar, they don't have any time estimation for applications that are already in progress. Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
I just called migri and asked about my application, as I have also been waiting for 25 months since August 2022. they said the estimated review period is 32-33 months. I think you'll get it soon.Sergo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 11:15 amunfortunately, this is already a long time to consider, of course, calls to migri have little effect on the process, but in any case, you will not be hit on the head for the demand. try calling anyway or making an appointment in person, since the estimated waiting period has expired, you have the right to worry. Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
I have also called today. They didn't provide any time estimation since it is already progressing but they suggested me to contact via email and ask about the time estimation. If I understood correctly, customer service can't see the details, so I might get more info by sending email. I'll give a try.Sergo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 11:45 amI just called migri and asked about my application, as I have also been waiting for 25 months since August 2022. they said the estimated review period is 32-33 months. Best of luck to all our 2022 team here!!!
Congratulations!!!
I applied in August 2022 and am still waiting...
I also applied for citizenship in August of the 22nd year.
I applied in February 2022 and still waiting. Application is in progressing state almost two months
Have you checked your estimated processing time using MIGRI’s Processing Time Checker? For an application for citizenship, if one answers “No” to the question: Did you arrive in Finland without getting a residence permit in advance? and “yes” to having a valid national passport and “yes” to applying using EnterFinland, the estimated processing time is 7-23 months. If one answers “Yes” to the question: Did you arrive in Finland without getting a residence permit in advance? and either “yes” or “no” to applying using EnterFinland, the estimated processing time is 30 months.
So I don’t understand why someone at MIGRI would tell you 32-33 months without giving some reason why s/he is saying an estimated 2-3 months more is needed to process your application than the 30 months estimate its own Processing Time Checker provides (if that case scenario applies) or an estimated 9-10 months more if the other case scenario applies.
Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
Just saw on Facebook:
An applicant from December 7th 2023 (diary number on December 12th) received a Positive Decision today.
Single applicant, employed.
Thought I should pass on the info.

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
Thanks for sharing! It’s good to hear applications are still being processed even though this thread can be quiet sometimes

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
Yes, I acted as you say according to this procedure and the computer says that the waiting time is 27-28 months, the official website says that it is 30 months, and yesterday when I contacted the inspector. He says that the processing time is increasing because there are a lot of people in the queue and the waiting time may increase to 32-33 months.Boston_MA wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 9:48 am_User123_ wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 10:46 pmI'm still waiting...Sergo wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 5:29 pm_the message was on August 20 from a user named user 123, I would like to know if this user has received a solution or is still waiting. here is a copy of that message.

Yes, I have Oy as well and I wait 14 months already. They told me to wait 23 month, but it was 6 month ago when they said so
