Hi all,

I applied on the 23rd of December and received my Diary number on the 4th of January. I'm unsure whether I'm in the long or short queue and am starting to feel a bit nervous. Has anyone else who applied around the same timeframe received a reply yet?
Hi,
Applicants normally get served as per the date of receiving diary number, which in your case is 4.1. I myself applied in the same week, fingers crossed. First decisions should come in the next two weeks in my estimation.

Migri updated website with estimates. Now it is 9-25 months for people with valid national passport and who came here with residence permit.

You are in short queue and based on may calculations from migri stats and seeing other diary number processing times your application should start processing end of coming week or early following week .

I applied in October 2023 got diary number same day and my diary number was 88xx. Migri told me my expected time is 31 months meaning I am in yhe long queue. I hope you are not in same situation like me. By the way I read on yhe previous page that there was a fast, slow and slow/ fast queue. Are there now 3 queues or just one ?

What is the calculation/estimation formula? Because diary number is something that is given to refer to your application, how do we determine the queue from that? For instance the format is xx/xxx/yyyy

X= numbers
Y= year

That’s interesting. I wonder what the first bit of diary number represents.

I applied also second week of Jan 2024 and got my diary number 1 week after with the beginning starts at 27-/xxx/yyyy. Whereas a friend of mine applied the 01.01 and got the diary n.o 10 days later (4 days before mine) and the n.o starts with 11-/xxx/yyyy so the only difference is the first bit. And the gap between 2 number is about ~150. I wonder if that means the number of cases between us.

Any thoughts?

What's your diary number or just first two numbers? I am asking because I have similar background like you and trying to figure out if I am in the same queue
Jumping in the middle of conversation. My diary number starts with 17xxx. I see here many with the decision with diary number 16xxx . Of course i did got it late Dec 2023, So still have time for both shorter and longer queue to get processed for the application at this time. But how do i know which is the longer queue and which is the shorter queue based on diary number beginning ?
I think you can't know type of your queue based on diary number. Diary number is amount of people applied for citizenship in a year. My estimation was 16000-18000 applicants in 2023 (based on migri statistics). When we start to see that diary numbers 1000-2000 have started to process, that means migri is on January 2024 applications.

About queue type, there was a graph at the beginning of this thread. 1st queue is 0-2000 (no one really knows what is it for), 2nd queue starts from 6000-6300 (I believe this is the slow queue as it moves slowly according to people in this thread) and 3rd queue starts ~8500-10000 which is normal or faster.

What was your initial queue number?
I suppose there’s no way to determine initial queue number now that Kamu is gone?

Okay here is how, i predicted his estimated processing times.

If you look at the migri stats https://tilastot.migri.fi/#decisions There are about 1600 applicants in December 2023, ~90 Applicants each day based on number of working days.
and again based on stats, on average about 1200 applicants are processed each month 50-70 Applications a day . Now looking at the initial of diary numbers and diary number recieved date, I have confirmed that it started around 16000 and ended with around 17300 for December applicants (despite some received the diary number on Jan). I have confirmed that my application belongs to shorter queue from Migri and looking the initial queue number and diary number, you belong to the same group as me.

And it has been also seen that someone recieved that diary number on 24 th Dec had initial about 16800, other person who got diary number of Dec 29 has diary number around 17000 and you who got the diary number of 4th Jan is around 17200 confirms all above theory.

So, with all these data, my forecasting model shows that currently applications around 18900-17000 are being processed with velocity of 50-60 applications a day. And you would have to wait 4-7 more working days to get your application starting to processed .

Let me know once you are able to confirm this.

Yeah the diary number doesn’t really tell you anything at all. You can’t determine your queue from this at all.
It follows the format Sequence/Application/Year
So a diary number of 12345/310/2024
Is:
12345 = Sequence number of application for that year
310 = This is the citizenship application number
2024 = Year application was submitted
