1999 Moved to Finland on a full time job contract.
27.12.2023 Applied for citizenship
28.12.2023 Visited service point, diary number created (169xx)
29.12.2023 Starting position in the queue was 8660
27.09.2024 Processing has started
27.09.2024 Positive decision two hours later
Next I will see how travel works without a valid residence card since I will leave the country in three days time so won't have a Finnish passport by then.

Having a job is not a requirement for citizenship.lookatthestars wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 3:58 pmHi there, I was wondering if anyone has experience or advice on receiving a positive citizenship decision while being "jobless" or "unemployed." When I submitted my citizenship application in Jan 2024, I had a valid work contract allowing for 0-233 hours per month, and at that time, I was working full-time. Although my contract is still valid now, my work hours dropped to 0 zero, four months ago, so I've registered with the TE Office as a job seeker. I'm worried this situation might affect my application. Has anyone been in a similar position or heard of cases like this? Any insights would be greatly appreciated, as I'm feeling a bit upset about my employment situation.
Congratulationsmillenialpain wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 1:00 amTime to share my news! Finally got my decision today after almost exactly 9 months.
Applied: 28.12.23 (received diary number the same day)
Processing started: 27.09
Decision ready: 27.09
Initial queueu / diary number: 8600~ and 169xx
The decision basically came 1.5 hour later.
Background: I came to Finland in 2018 with residence permit type B, received type A in 2019 and had the permanent residency since 2021. I studied bachelors program here, married to Finnish citizen and my country of origin is Turkey. So, pretty standard application.
I want to say thank you everybody, this forum kept me sane for 9 months and because of the information shared here, I was able to guess and expect when I would receive a decision. So, impact of information shared here is huge.
I wish everyone will receive decision soon, best of luck!
