yes you are right but personally speaking the best way to handle this long waiting time is to forget about it, i never logged in my profile for the whole 9 month period but now when its in the 2nd stage, its just stressing me because now i would have to think about it and keep checking for updates
You’re right, it is stressful having to check your email and Enterfinland account every once in a while, not knowing when a decision will be made. Just know that a decision WILL be made and it will most likely be positive.

Hi fellow-applicants,

I applied for Finnish citizenship in May 2024 and my Diary number is 58XX/310/2024. I arrived in Finland in 2015 on a residence permit with valid passport. and have been working all the time. Currently, I am on a Permanent Residence card.

Upon asking Migri regarding queue/general status they replied that - Thank you for your message, I checked your application and it is waiting for to be processed. The estimated processing time is 25 months. The estimation starts counting from the date you visited the service point for identification.

Has anyone else got this type of general 25 months reply recently?
I checked the same with Migri twice, 3 months ago they informed that my processing time is 8 months from identity verification or submission date. Then i checked with them again 3 weeks ago and they informed that they expect my application to be processed in the next 1-2 months. Applied in Jan 24 and visited Migri in 07 Feb - not sure if it will be processed soon.

Background: non-EU / arrived in 2018 with B-permit (Scientific researcher) and moved to A-type in Jan 2019 / Salary on mid-high level / i have a lot of travel record, almost used all the travel periods allowed in the old law.
Update to this comment: Moved to "In Progress" today morning at 8:30. Therefore as promissed by Migri via email, 1 month and 5 days from last check where they said that the processing will start in 1-2 months. Hope this helps anyone in this forum.

Hi, I received my citizenship on 08/01. I informed that I would be back from holidays on the night of 07/01 (I started the holiday 5 days after the process went in progress. I had submitted the travel notification earlier, so Migri did not process the decision until I traveled back to Finland). I got the decision issued directly the next day. Migri did not ask any questions, but I have kept my travel record and salary details up to date all the time.

Haha I can continue my citizenship collection.
Now I own the Serbian, Slovenian and Finnish.
And I just found out that I have the right to the Italian citizenship as well, based on my grandma being born on a territory that belonged to Italy until WW2.
So now just to collect all the paperwork. lol

simply send email to migri@migri.com - i heard rumhours around that they are currently not replying anymore case specific timeline, only generic answers are available now. Usually you need to send you customer number and diary number

Diary number: 30**/310/2024. I visited Migri on April 8. I applied with my 12-year-old child. I moved in 2020. I went to language school and never worked. I receive unemployment benefits from Kela. And tomorrow (04.02) I start working as an integration coordinator at the immigration office. My husband and my other daughter are already Finnish citizens. I informed Migri about my new job and my employment contract. I informed Migri that I will be going on vacation between January 18 and February 1. My application was processed on January 21. I received an automatic decision at 07:00 this morning (03.02.2025). My daughter and I are now Finnish citizens. Good luck to everyone who is waiting. :D

Congratulations to both of you! Did you receive an email stating that the decision was made automatically? I thought only applications submitted on or after May 2, 2024 were eligible for automated decisions.

Yes, an email came as an automatic decision. However, it was put into process on January 21. I think they made the automatic decision based on the date I would return after seeing that I was out of the country.
