They treat us this way right from the moment we step into this country. I have worked my ass off, paid taxes, drained my brain from toxic marriage, discriminated against in this biased system, and then you tell me that citizens from my country need to be thoroughly screened before they can be granted citizenship while you give citizenships to specific people. You stated that on your website boldly then wonder why people get depressed and act without feelings. You mess people up mentally with your treatments and you expect them to be fine. I sometimes just laugh when told to go and vote. what say does my vote have ? In Finland? hahhaah. With my colour, it doesnt matter who i vote for. Today marks 16 months waiting and yes my country is on the list!!!!

Migri is crying everyday about being understaffed, Covid etc etc. But they increase “waiting time” to 19 months while it was 10-12 when COVID was on peak time. Also now they invite everyone who have a degree from Finland to apply for residence permit. So you are understaffed, there is Covid and many applications congested but you invite more people to apply RP?

If the system was fair and if they actually had a “system” everybody would know their queue number and don’t get stressed about their application status. Some Migri supporters may cry in here but face the reality. I just heard from a friend that his application was on hold 7.5 months due to the person who is processing his application left to paternal leave.

Nothing else to say.
I was avoiding to say it here as I have no proof of it but I HEARD THE SAME!!!! If that’s true, then what the f.....

I already know that last year my Turkish friend’s application was also on hold for half a year on stage two because the person who was handling it had to be transferred to another department because of covid something blabla...

yea, how bullshi that sounds lol. Fake stuff!

My application moved today to stage 2 (Applied on 10.11.2020, queue number 2937). During this 3.5 months, I have not sent any extra documents such as my payslips. Do you recommend me to do so or just wait to see whether they would ask for further documents or not? any suggestion would be appreciated.
Great! Hope you get the good news soon. By the way, is your country on the migri country list?
My country is not in the Migri's list. I was still surprised to see my application moved to stage 2 in 3.5 months. Yet, it's possible that the stage 2 takes long, according to some of the recent experiences. Wish me luck!
Hi, just wondering if you've got your decision yet, can you please update if so? Thanks

Wow! That's strange. Do you have any idea why it was in stage 2 for such a long time?
My application is in stage 2 for 3 weeks and I am getting insane by checking enterfinland several times a day.

Unfortunately no news yet. It's been 3 weeks of stress and pressure.

I have a friend who got stuck in stage 2 for 5 months because the address that he put in his application was also registered in migri by someone else. He had to get a letter from the landlord to clarify the issue, but they asked for this letter 5 months after they started to process the application...

They gave no explanation and never asked for supporting documentation. We updated payslips but not travel information regularly. Any time we inquired with migri we were just told to wait. No explanation.

Don’t waste your time to send email or call Migri. Their copy paste answer is down below:

“ Kansalaisuushakemusten käsittely on valitettavasti ruuhkautunut mm. henkilöstövajeen ja koronavirustilanteen myötä. Meillä on useampia eri kansalaisuushakemusjonoja, mm. sen mukaan millä perusteella hakija on tullut Suomeen ja onko hänellä kansallinen passi vai pakolaisen matkustusasiakirja / muukalaispassi.”

They might tell you you will get decision in 2 weeks but after 2 weeks they might tell you something else. The only way to not get stressed is to forget your application and don’t wait. Someday you might get decision 🤣.

Also interestingly they have staff shortage but Russians and Asians can get decision in 3 months lol.

I recently talked to a lawyer about the situation, he say that there is nothing can be done as law doesn’t force Migri to decide on certain amount of time. It might well take 3 years and you cannot do anything.

This isn't really the full picture. Under the constitution "Everyone has the right to have his or her case dealt with appropriately and without undue delay". For example, making a complaint to the Parliamentary Ombudsman can result in reparations (hyvitys). There can also a direct case for damages. There's no effective way to force them to move faster though.

That’s correct but Migri’s deadlines are all “approximate”. So they never say you will get decision in 12-15-19 months. As there is no certain deadline, they aren’t responsible. That’s what lawyer told me. On top of that, when you start this way, they will for sure get pissed and delay even more. It’s also part of Finnish culture, they wait for whatever it takes.

The bigges problem is, there is no clear system that they follow. Because we know it’s not first come first serve, so they don’t have queue system. It’s not really only based on nationality. So what is their system to process application? That is the question mark everybody pissed of. If they could give us a clear queue number, or if we knew it’s first come first serve basis, it still would be more fair and less stressful.
And all these I’m talking about when application stage is in stage 1 which means they have not check the application, at all, whatsoever (this is their claim, an answer to my mail).

My citizenahip application is over 2yrs since February 2019 and still in 2nd stage.

My pending residence permit application was the caused of the delay. My country wasn't on the list.

My residence permit must be running before I can be granted citizenship.

I asked the lady incharge of my citizenship application to take permit application and process it herself since its the same immigration system handing such cases but she said we must wait for the permit decision and that it was another department handling the application.

Citizenship application department is different from residence permit application department. 😳
