Does anyone know if after we received the citizenship, can we still travel within Europe with the passport and residence permit from your own country? I am going to travel in Europe during the summer but the police site keeps Maintenance break so I dont know if I can apply for the new Finnish passport in time.

@zyumei : according to some of the earlier posts here, you are not supposed to keep your residence permit, when you get a positive decision. If you have recently gotten a decision could you please share the timeline of you case?

No, you shall not use residence permit once you have been granted Finnish citizenship. You can apply by visiting police station. I did the same, it is pretty simple.

5-8 working days. Passports are not delivered by post. They are delivered by Matkahuolto, so R-kioski or smaller K-kauppa is the place to get it.

You can pay more and get fast-track or express passport even in the same day:

Express passport

An express passport is a regular passport delivered at express speed.
If you submit an express passport application online no later than 9 a.m., the finished passport can be collected at 4 p.m. on the same afternoon, provided there is room in the express passport quota for the same day. If you submit the application at a licence services point or an online application requires an identification visit, the time limit is 11 a.m. If you submit the application later, or there is room only in the next day's quota, the finished passport can be collected at 4 p.m. on the next working day.
Express passports can be applied for at any licence services point, but the finished passport is delivered only to the collection points listed below:
Matkahuolto's Kamppi terminal, Kamppi Centre Narinkka 1, Helsinki
R-kiosk, Terminal 2, Helsinki Airport

If you are submitting your application electronically and the system requires you to visit a police licence services point for identification, you can only select standard delivery in your electronic application. However, at the counter, you will be able to opt for the fast-track procedure. In this case, you will have to pay the difference between the price of a standard passport application and that of a fast-track application.
