Stupid car tax go down 17% - wait next year to buy a new car
I'm not surprised people are worried about more cars being on the road. I checked out bmw.fi new prices and even things like 5 series are coming down 10%. There is no way that the change in taxation is revenue neutral - I thought the lower prices of small cars would be offset by higher prices of big cars but the government must be giving up a lot of tax revenue with this change.
Seen the price of diesel creeping up recently? Seems to be going up more than petrol, at least at my local garage. Wonder if it's in anticipation of all of those nice new cheap diesel cars coming along next year? I imagine the change in revenue levels has been planned in detail over a timeframe of a few years, and overall I bet it's not a reduction.
