er... maybe this is not the right place for this question but...
I was wondering... how is the weather in Helsinki area in late March...
I'm thinking about maybe going to visit Finland in March. I would go to Rovaniemi (can I see the Aurora there? Or would I need to go further to the North? I mean, in March) as well. And other cities... Tampere, Turku...
Does it snow in Helsinki in March? And how long does daylight last? (I've read somewhere that in March you have no daylight in Rovaniemi...)
World's Worst Weather
When you say "Old Finland Pre-war" do you mean the Russian side of "Karjala" ?Muddy Zuk wrote:I have just returned from 4day trip into old Finland pre war and found the weather most favourable?!?!
The snow on my front lawn is up to the height of my car, instead of just shoveling, the Roads Admin have had to truck it away from city streets and highways..Maybe we need to donate some of our snow to you guys in Finland

I like it cool and dark. Temperatures above 20 degrees are not meant for humans.
But I don't like the feeling of having my nostrils freeze so I don't like -20 either.
Me like!

You should try Northern Canada, Greenland and Svalbard, and then let me know

Well I like the weather at the moment much more than this time last year.ronbladholm wrote:Anyone with any new opinions on the wonderful weather of Finland?
I dislike the extremely dry and cold air that is normally prevalent this time of year, and when you add to it the darkness of January its just horrible.
I would much rather have +2 than -10 for this time of year when its dark and depressing anyway, no doubt. So I have actually been quite happy about January's weather thus far.
Some snow in Feb would be great though, with the days being a bit longer and everything seems less claustrophobic.
If you have to live somewhere as the globe rapidly warms, then Finland is probably a good place!

I did mention something about preferring to maintain my nostrils unfrozen.Oombongo wrote:You should try Northern Canada, Greenland and Svalbard, and then let me know
Though my better half did suggest we could move to Siberia after she saw temperatures there. Nosy little... This comes from woman who always complains being cold even in temperatures where water is still liquid.
