Hey guys,

I have been asked some additional documents today. I sent them. There were really weird questions lol. No answer or decision so far. And my stage is still waiting for processing (stage 1).

Anyone has experience if decision is made right after additional documents sent? Did you also get very detailed questions? And was decision negative or positive?

How do you get an additional document asked if your application is waiting to be processed?
Waiting to be processed means no one has touched it so how can you be asked to supplement?
Or did you go for the interview today?

Clearly your case is on stage 2, don't trust this staging. I think you will get the decision soon, maybe this or next week.

Clearly your case is on stage 2, don't trust this staging. I think you will get the decision soon, maybe this or next week.

It doesn’t say as a message “you application now started processing “. It’s weird that it’s still at stage 1. If they didn’t process, how did they want to request additional documents? Bizarre!

Can you share what documents they asled for? I have heard of many cases when they got from 1st to 3rd stage(decision) so don't think too much, your application is in process

Their questions were weird. Like “you got this much money transfer from your spouse, did you pay the gift tax on that money?” It shocked me lol. The amount is not high btw.

how did they know the amount of money your spouse transferred to you? was it reflecting on your bank statements you attached during your application or you kept on supplementing your application with bank statements and or payslips? that made them know about this money

They ask for full transaction for the time you live in Finland.

Tax debt can be a reason to deny the application.

Can be but I had no idea about this absurd “gift tax” which is invented to skim people more. What is even more absurd, it doesn’t matter if you are family or not, if you get an amount of 5000 € total in 3 years, you have to pay gift tax. Which makes it clear that both partners have to have their own income or they have to pay tax for something that is a family sharing. In my case it’s not a debt or I deliberately not paid, I simply had no idea of such thing and I will pay the tax and move on. If they deny my application for “gift tax” which I didn’t know, will mean that they were actually looking to deny the application anyway. If it was income tax, employee tax etc I would understand but gift tax? Come on. How many Finns pay gift tax in Finland? I swear I didn’t even know such thing exists for limit of 5000€ for 3 years which makes 50 euros per month lol.

Anyway, I guess I will find out soon.

How’s that possible??? Is it only you or they ask from everyone? Because I know people they didn’t ask for that

Yeah this was what I was asking earlier about Migri questioning funds of student's. They require applicants to have 6720 per year in bank account, asked for origin of funds(if from sponsor) but never mention a single words about this gift tax if the student receive expense support from sponsor. Agree that tax office and migri operated separately but how could one new immigrant can be aware of all the taxes and regulations when they first come.

I think the tax is waived if the money is to support your education. that's why students are not taxed. l may be wrong...
