How early were you applying? I mean how many months are left until you complete the 4 years condition?
About 7-8 months. What about you and have they accepted it normally?
It was 5 months remaining for me. Yep they accepted the application and nothing happened. Now waiting for 10 months. I know two other people who applied when they had 5 months remaining, and they got their citizenship decision within 6 months. No one' knows what is going on and it is random.
Yup! I think we can all see a clear example of how things typically work here in Finland. It all depends on who you met. I have seen this type of things in banks and even in other government institutions. If you are “lucky” enough you could go through with literally same conditions for which somebody else was denied. I know two people who applied with some kind of same short vocational school certification as proof of language proficiency. One was accepted the other was denied. So there you have it.

For group statistics update (with all understanding and deep feelings for those who are waiting for too long time),

Me and my kid got positive decision today late afternoon around 17:00 (sms received)
- applied in October 2022
- application moved to stage 2 three weeks ago late afternoon as well (email was received).
- No supplement was asked but I kept sending my payslip every month.

Wish all the best for you guys (especially for those who have been waiting too long).

This is great news. It's been a while someone in this group got a positive decision. Congratulations

Did you have a permanent residence permit or were you on an A permit?

Congratulations! Did you continue to add your payslips after January? I thought they updated their systems that you didn't need to send payslips anymore ?

So citizenship application who has national passport and residence permit will likely to get their decision in 6-18 months. Before it was 6-16 months. I am clean all the way and still waiting for 13 months and serial number is 29##. Well , one day it will be resolved. Everyones case will come to an end one day. So be patient.

Thanks for your congratulations. Yes, I continued to add my payslips after January although they have an access to the income register. I have my intuition about that which may be wrong by the way. Whenever you add additional documents, they should read them to know if there is some urgent matter. When I add my payslip, it will make the officer open the message and read it which increases the likelihood that he will act with the application if everything is clear and he got all the decisions from other authorities. In addition, salary information takes 2-3 days until they are reflected in the register.

By the way, I had attached the April payslip morning on the same day I got the decision.

I called Migri to ask for something a month ago, and they informed me that they do not get any notification when I submit any additional document to my enterfinland page, unless if my application is in the processing stage. Otherwise it does not matter, they just check it when the start processing your application.

That’s a hell of long time to wait. While it’s not ideal there might be an upside to it though. If the maximum waiting time listed is 28, then you should get your decision within the next three month’s latest. Again, it’s not ideal but it might give you “some degree of certainty”.Wishing you the very best.

Does anybody have experience renewing residence permit while waiting for citizenship?

I've been waiting for citizenship for 13 months (still stage 1), and my current RP expires in a month. I've applied for RP renewal in the beginning of March but that one also idles in queue even though the case is pretty straightforward - last time it was renewed in one day.

Any ideas what is going on? They don't want to do the RP renewal because they are going to grant citizenship soon? Or should I worry that I will end up with expired RP & henkilökortti etc?
