Citizenship application 2025
Re: Citizenship application 2025
Can anyone help me with this? And in general, what do they actually require from my accountant? I have a small toiminimi (just providing some service, not selling anything) with very low income as a side business alongside my stable full-time job.
Migri requested:
"Submit the two most recent profit and loss statements and balance sheets. Also submit a certificate from your accountant of your personal withdrawals, salaries and/or dividends you have received from your business during the years 2024–2025."
However, my accountant said:
"Do they need the statements according to double-entry bookkeeping, or will they accept single-entry bookkeeping statements? Also, ask what kind of salary report is required, since in taxation your profit is considered your salary."
Migri requested:
"Submit the two most recent profit and loss statements and balance sheets. Also submit a certificate from your accountant of your personal withdrawals, salaries and/or dividends you have received from your business during the years 2024–2025."

Re: Citizenship application 2025
Toiminimi is not required to do double entry book keeping unless the total revenue limis crossed. According to vero, more than 100k. So single entry is fine.kam_fin wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 4:54 pmCan anyone help me with this? And in general, what do they actually require from my accountant? Private withdrawal means how much money you took out from your business account for personal use. Thats what they want. But your accountant is correct. In practice, business profit is your personal money, regardless of which account it is sitting in. But migri wants to see how much are you spending for yourself, I guess.

Thanks so much for your quick response, it’s really helpful!
Just want to clarify one thing: do you think a business bank account statement alone would suffice to prove the business profit (which I report as my salary)? In my tax filings, I’ve declared my entire profit as salary, although I haven’t withdrawn all the money from the business account.
What do you think—could the bank statement be enough in that case?

Thank you for your response. No, I never had any correspondence with Vero and neither I had filled any tax returns, since there was no billings. Now i am aware that I should have filed returns even if the income has been zero. I will get in touch with Vero and hopefully it wont be complicated (because toiminimi was registered 6 years agoAuringon_kukka wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 5:31 pmYour toiminimi would not have generated any income if you had no billings. Did you ever have any correspondence from Vero in connection with your toiminimi? Did you ever fill out tax returns as a business operator?fa_finland wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 3:36 pmThank you for your response. In my case, I have just registered toiminimi 6 years ago and then I haven't done anything related to it. Is there any place where I can check if my toiminimi have earned anything, or does it work only if I have reported the income? I need to double check If I have received any payments in the past through it.Maaria wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 6:58 am
Not totally similar, but partially. Just a toiminimi, no job. Supplement was send income statement and balance sheet for last 5 years. Private withdrawal and deposit certified by accountant. Accountant certificate that your business was not required to file financial statements with trade register.
I don't understand why they are making it mandatory to get thise from accountants. If you did not use an accountant regularly, what are you supposed to do? Vero and PRH does not require you to have an accountant, if your revenue and business size did not cross a certain limit, if you were a toiminimi.
Now I wish I shouldn't have registered it at all![]()

What to do for a toiminimi, when your supplement request is asking for accountant certified documents, and did not give you any alternative options?TUserFin wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 2:06 pmThanks everyone in this group, I got citezenship today on basis of enterpreneurship. I submitted my application on 4th of July 2023. It took 23 month and 1 week to get to the stage 2. As I knew from this forum that it will go into processing after 23 months for enterpreneurs, I requested all updated papers from my accountant since the begginig of the company a week ago and attached them. I also took a screenshot from Vero that I paid all taxes on time. As a result, processing stage lasted today 2 hours without additional requests.
All the best to others who are still waiting and feel stress as I felt. You will also get to this stage, and all the stress will be in the past for you soon!
Note
If the applicant’s income is based on business activities, the following documents must be enclosed in
the application:
• extract from the Register of Companies dated less than six months ago
• profit and loss account and balance sheet for the most recent financial period
• certificate from the accounting firm on wages paid or takings into private use

If you don't have an accountant, inform migri of that fact when you provide the information. Sole traders are not obligated to use the services of an accountant. Migri, unfortunately, does not spell out the options in its correspondence, preferring instead to rely on the comfort of accountant-certified documents. When you provide the information, you are "certifying" it to be true.Maaria wrote: ↑Wed Sep 03, 2025 7:53 pmWhat to do for a toiminimi, when your supplement request is asking for accountant certified documents, and did not give you any alternative options?TUserFin wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 2:06 pmThanks everyone in this group, I got citezenship today on basis of enterpreneurship. Thank you so much Auringon_kukka for your reply. Yes, I did/do have a toiminimi, and yes, I did/do have an accountant. However, you can do your accounting yourself and provide migri with the information they're looking for. For private withdrawals from your (business) account, you can supply bank statements. If you haven't kept copies of your statements or you can't access them anymore, you'll have to reach out to your bank and likely pay a fee for the copies.Maaria wrote: ↑Thu Sep 04, 2025 4:27 pmThank you so much Auringon_kukka for your reply. Thank you Auringon_kukka for your very useful guidance. May I ask you one last question? I received two supplement requests: one for updated accounting documents, and one for clarifications. My application started processing at 23 months, and I had my decision about three weeks later.Maaria wrote: ↑Fri Sep 05, 2025 1:54 pmThank you Auringon_kukka for your very useful guidance. Re: Citizenship application 2025
Thank you Auringon_kukka again for your reply. Is it ok to ask you what was the clarification about? In the last year's post you said that you received clarification request after sending reply to supplement request about your business. I am asking because it may help me see what documents might need clarification and I can already send it with my reply to supplement request. Thank you so much once again.Auringon_kukka wrote: ↑Fri Sep 05, 2025 2:14 pmI received two supplement requests: one for updated accounting documents, and one for clarifications.
