Congratulations!!!ebrahimian wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 12:48 pmOk so mine finally came! After 31 months of waiting for processing and about 3 more weeks of in Progress!
Visited Migri: 23.02.2023
Decision: 08.10.2025
Another bonus from migri for me: I have not received any notification about this! No email nothing! I just found out by visiting EnterFinland that my decision was ready yesterday!! I went to DVV to check my personal data and see that my citizenship is updated to Finland!![]()
Indeed, they don't make much of a fuss here when you get citizenship!
Re: Citizenship application 2025
It looks like the range of processing times for citizenship applications is now 15 to 31 months instead of 9 to 31. The calculator hasn't been updated, but the processing times page has:
https://migri.fi/en/processing-times#citizenship
https://migri.fi/en/processing-times#citizenship

I think I saw this coming xdgghse3dv wrote: ↑Fri Oct 10, 2025 10:59 amIt looks like the range of processing times for citizenship applications is now 15 to 31 months instead of 9 to 31. The calculator hasn't been updated, but the processing times page has:

Re: Citizenship application 2025
Does anyone know if citizen ship applications are running on a different timeline if you already possess long-term residence/PR?
Re: Citizenship application 2025
Mostly yes. There are “assumptions” that holding a PR drops the priority a little (delays the application), but application remains in the same queue. Logic is that one is less “in need” if they have a way to stay in the county, e.g through a PR
Re: Citizenship application 2025
Hello dears,
If your citizenship application is delayed for more than 1 year, it makes sense to tell that to Oikeuskansleri. Nowadays they receive many complaints about Migri, so maybe that is going to help with the future applications. Even if you have already received positive decision, it is highly recommended to complain about the process, as it really draws attention to their processes. Just open Oikeuskansleri.fi website and make a description of your process. Other than that, good luck everyone

Re: Citizenship application 2025
I finally received positive decision on Tuesday!
Here’s the timeline:
1. Originally an Iraqi Kurd. Got residence permit type A on March 2018 based on family relations (married to a Finnish citizen). I was granted permanent residency last summer.
2. Moved to Finland in March 2020.
3. Studied Masters for 2 years here in Finland then completed the 9-month integration course (kotoutumiskoulutus) including a 3-week practical language training and later passed the YKI test.
4. I never managed to get employed despite continuously applying for jobs, until recently (1st of September) where I finally found one, which could have been the reason why Migri decided to grant me citizenship.
5. 16.01.2024 applied for citizenship.
6. 29.01.2024 diary number created 6xx/310/2024.
7. 29.01.2024 processing of application started.
8. I’ve sent additional information 6 times, regarding travels outside Finland, income source (even though I already stated it clearly in my application, they still requested it later on), permanent residence permit, and employment status update.
9. 14.10.2025 at 15:01 processing of my application began. Around one hour later at 16:02 the decision was made. It took nearly 21 months in total.
I didn’t think i would get it in less than 22 months, even though I initially thought it would only take 6-9 months xd.
It’s only a matter of time as long as you meet all the requirements, so it’s better to forget about it if you can, until one day you suddenly become a Finnish citizen.
Wishing you all the best!

Did you notice any patterns about the how long that delays the process?

off topic: does migri count work travel days towards 365 days limit? on the website they dont specify?
Re: Citizenship application 2025
Yeah I don’t think it’s specified on the website which could mean all days spent abroad count regardless of the purpose but you could also call them to make sure.rogueelement wrote: ↑Mon Oct 20, 2025 3:03 pmoff topic: does migri count work travel days towards 365 days limit? on the website they dont specify?
Re: Citizenship application 2025
Hello!
I'm wondering if there's a connection between turning off automatic notifications and, for example, receiving a negative decision. My case is still in the first stage of review; I submitted my application 14 months ago, along with my children. However, I suspect there may be problems because I submitted my application too early, without waiting for the full four years of residence. Frankly, I wouldn't have applied so early, but I was bothered by a feeling of unfairness. I could have received my first residence permit much earlier if not for the refusal (which was not my fault), after which I filed an appeal and was waiting for a decision. In the meantime, I work full-time, learned the language, and passed the YKI (all parts 3) independently, without courses or state support, after three years of living in Finland.

Re: Citizenship application 2025
I have checked with them and work travel is counted towards 365 days. I am not sure what should i do, my work requires frequent travelling and i am almost at the limit. even we sent out official letters with reasoning. they said no. any ideas?
